As the war rages on and military spending booms, the US arms industry is a big winner in Ukraine

    https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-01...spending-profits-ukraine-war-russia/101843752

This was a surprising article from ABC Australia, which usually is very wary to stray from the establishment line.

A few thoughts of mine on the subject:

    1. The US has spent more on military aid for Ukraine per year than they did in any single year of the Afghanistan war, even when they had 98,000 troops on the ground.

    2. To date, the US has spent more on the war than our best estimates of total Russian military expenditure.

    3. A few dozen US Congresspeople or their families are heavily invested in these defense contractors and stand to profit handsomely.

    4. Russian exports continue to be laundered through third party countries like India and Turkey into the West.

    5. Western media is clearly trying to conspire us into a greater war. Remember the missile that hit Poland? Senior US officials were on CNN on the Tuesday saying they had tracked the missile from launch to impact and knew who did it, the media was well aware of this and still ran the highly cynical headline "Russian-made missile". They are lying to your face.

I have never been so astounded as with that Polish missile story. Anyone who was paying attention knew it was a Ukrainian missile fired in defense, and "Russian made missile" was clear and incontrovertible proof those news outlets also knew it was Ukrainian.

I have never seen such blatant propaganda from the West in my lifetime.

From tanks for Ukraine to F-16s in... how long?

Politico is now describing the “fast track” in Washington as we move toward sending Ukraine F-16 fighter jets and long-range missiles. And the calls are coming from inside the Pentagon.

How soon until Ukraine asks for tactical nukes, too?

'As far as long-range missiles go, Ukraine would then be able to strike targets deep inside Russia. Would Zelensky be able to resist the temptation?'

    No.

'The entire situation in Ukraine continues to spiral out of control. We are escalating the war at a furious pace and nobody in Washington from either party seems to care. It’s long past time to hit the pause button and ask ourselves who is really benefiting from all of this. (Aside from the military-industrial complex, of course, where contractors are raking in billions of dollars from this fiasco.) If someone inside the White House or the Pentagon actually believes that the American people would somehow benefit from going to war against Russia, they should have the courage to stand up in front of the cameras and say so. If not, then we need to slow this train down by a great deal before we end up riding it off of a cliff.'

    Without a doubt.

The West (US and NATO) have decided Ukraine is as good a place as any to make a stand against Putin. And I mean Putin not Russia. Anyway NATO countries will be giving all kinds of support to Ukraine.
