Indeed, well said. We have a history of voting for people with fame, pretty faces or pretty words. Voters aren't good at political hiring. It is the basic weakness of our form of democracy. I prefer to have the parties choose the candidates as they do in the parliamentary system and then let the voters choose between those pretty faces and pretty words.

Who are “they” want to enhance power even if it means hurting the nation?

I am not a politician , I never ran for office and I never will. But I want more migrants to come to USA, I think it is good for the country. Nothing to do with enhancing power.

I am not interested debating on merit of the policy or ideology. I am interested if you think we the liberals intentionally want to hurt the country with our policy?

    I would prefer two things.
One, we develop a way to ensure that people holding office are held to the standards they are sworn to uphold. That would create a basic change of course in politics.
Secondly, we reform some of our priorities as society- and this relates to the reform above, because the above will cause the examples set by leaders to improve significantly-
And that is turn, will raise the standards of conduct for society, and the examples we set for each other- and most importantly for our children.

What we are today is what was created in the past. Like a thriving garden is the result of a good gardner, a thriving generation is the result of good parenting and teaching... and a thriving nation is the result of thriving people with solid values.

The state of tomorrow begins today, like hiking a trail. You are where you are, and that is not as important as where you are headed. Each step in the right direction brings you closer to the objective you have set your sights on. We have to start with great examples of leadership- pick the best, and follow their lead. Only fools pick a leader and then try to dictate all the choices. People should be deciding on the destination, the duty of leadership is to get us there safely.

The job is not getting done that way. Changes must be made, not just in people- but in how we hold leaders accountable for their performance.

The voters vote for who they vote for. On the Republican side, the voters are voting for Trump in large masses. On the Democratic side, the DNC has a stronghold on the entire process to make sure that only Biden wins the nomination, which is why RFK and others have left the party and are running Independent. The DNC is not allowing their voters a choice of who to vote for other than Biden.

And that is an open attack on the core principle of democracy itself. That makes it- an attack on the foundation of the nation, and the rights of every citizen.

    Yeah? And, So WHAT?:bored:
Anybody who is a registered Democrat (or a Dem-Leaning Independent) is free to ignore the DNC altogether.
Nobody is holding a gun to their head.
They are always free to leave the Dem. Party and vote for someone else (or not vote at all).
    ^Problem solved.:flagus:

Isn't that vote suppression if the DNC won't allow Biden to have any real competition?

“America First” means different things to different people, obviously.

To me, it has to start with accepting the Constitution. Trump and his supporters tried to ignore the Constitution and steal the 2020 election. So no - MAGA / Trump and his supporters do not put America first. They are trying to destroy it.

    And a sick country.
How’s that working out for you?
Now we got trump angling to team up with musk because he’s broke.
I think musk should demand the vp spot for completely bankrolling trump’s election.
    Talk about corruption and elitism.

That’s where we are now folks.

So half of America believes in and supports Trump. So you would prefer the side that would deny them that option and flies in illegal aliens to this country in the dead of night??? Oh yeah, you are real Constitutionalists!

Only Trump and his supporters tried to stay in power after losing an election. That is the most direct attack on the Constitution the country has ever seen.

    Wasn't an insurrection.

We know this because nobody was charged with insurrection.

    Not for the time being.

The GOP is going to go down with the Trump ship.

And it deserves to. Cowards and lickspittles, the lot of them

In their wake one can only hope that voters will recognize that candidates with experience and actual interest in effective governing.

Instead of the carnival barkers and crackpots they have been cheering for lately.

Yeah, that’s the current right wing talking point.

The only people who even pretend to believe it are the people who have been looking for an excuse to deny the obvious for four years.

    Let’s try a substutution argument.

By your logic, Hitler was not a mass murderer because he was never charged with mass murder or genocide.

Unbelievable. If this person can’t see that the use of the justice System to remove Republicans from the ballot is a threat, that person is delusional. There are reports that the Democrats are looking to remove a couple hundred Republicans from the ballot around the country.

This is kind of a dead issue now with the recent SCOTUS ruling, thankfully.

I didn’t use that word. Although people have been convicted of seditious conspiracy, which isn’t very different.

Yes, those two situations are the same thing. (/sarcasm)

Was there even an international court before world war 2? After the UN was formed (1944), yes...absolutely Hitler was indicted for war crimes. 100 percent.

Jan 6th was a riot. It was NOT an insurrection. We know this because those who could, have not charged anyone with insurrection because they all know that legally that charge wouldn't stick.

So long as you are aware that it wasn't an insurrection.
