Ever wonder what happens to a journalist when they step out of line?

This is why journalists only write articles about things that their corporate overlords want to be discussed. Because if they write about something their employers don't like, they risk being fired and their careers in journalism coming to an end.

Jonathan Choe, a veteran reporter for the ABC television affiliate KOMO in Seattle, has written an essay on Medium claiming he was fired for his coverage of a rally by the controversial Proud Boys group.

Then the progressives ridiculously accused this Asian-American of being a "White Supremacist".

Choe, a reporter of 20 years, created a photo montage with sound from the march to end his day. In the clips, he included music from the rally that included a song called “We’ll Have Our Home Again.” Although Choe was unfamiliar with the tune, it is allegedly played frequently at Proud Boys rallies and similar gatherings.

“I wanted to simply capture a moment in time, with authentic visuals and sounds. It was clearly misinterpreted by some on-line,” Choe wrote.

Because of the uproar, Choe said his news director told him to take down all his social media related to the Proud Boys rally. He did so, but was fired the following day, he said.

 

Ah yes, the leftist gate keepers of information. We now have a nexus of leftist government/liberal media that Fascist Italy would envy.

 

You have to wonder why this happened since KOMO news is owned by Sinclair Broadcasting. Sinclair is a pro Trump, conservative company. If anything they have been accused by some in the past of having a white nationalist agenda. Maybe this extreme treatment of Choe is to show everyone that is not true.

 

I hate to interrupt this social justice warrior moment but KOMO news is owned by Sinclair Broadcast group. I don't think they would appreciated being called leftist gate keepers.

 

Oh, you think that's important? The media do not have to be self-identified as leftist to be functionally leftist. Almost all mainstream media now are functionally a propaganda organ of government, and government at the federal level is unapologetically leftist.

 

I guess if you view all federal governments as functionally leftist then the claim all media is functionally leftist works.

BTW Do you vote for leftist federal governments too or is there some fringe individuals that you believe are not. I would assume you believe both major parties are leftist since they both have controlled the functionally leftist federal government at one time or another in recent history.

 

I don't trust either major political party. I'm unaffiliated, usually vote libertarian just as a protest vote.

KOMO news might still be just a little left-leaning. Just not as left-leaning as others.
It's hard to imagine that there are really any hard conservatives in Seattle, not enough to form an entire news network.

Most of those journalists in Seattle working at KOMO are not going to be "conservative", despite whatever management owns them.
