In the process of America morphing from a republic to a democracy to a totalitarian government the only freedom in America came to mean the freedom to do and say whatever it takes to sell a product or a service. Inevitably, that dubious freedom has all but eroded away. The erosion began in the 19th century when sharpshooters bought legislation that gave them monopolies and tens of millions of dollars; billions in today’s dollars.

Next came money laws. Those are laws that force the public to purchase a specific product or service.

Money laws often apply force indirectly. The catalytic converter on automobiles is a textbook example of indirect force. Direct or indirect the consumer pays the cost.

NOTE: The Federal Reserve System is nothing more than a money law forcing the public to purchase whatever bankers are selling. That includes bankers selling someone else’s property —— namely the country. David Rockefeller said the following in 1991. That means bankers have been selling this country piece by piece for more than 60 years.

On the local level cities and towns forced builders to install smoke alarms, install smaller water tanks on toilets, and so on. In every case government force was applied to one segment of the population only. The Affordable Care Act took force to the next level. Today, EVERYBODY must purchase whatever the government dictates:

Whenever it involves the economy Democrats mean the welfare of the parasite class. Note the message Hoyer sent to every wannabe parasite: “Payoff the right officials and the government will force the American people to buy your product or service.”

Wall Street sharpshooters and corporate executives who benefit the most from government force believe they are still free —— smug in the knowledge that only the suckers lost their freedoms. One day the sharpshooters will awake and see that they, too, lost their freedom on the day they helped the government force the public to purchase anything. I doubt if the wise guys yet realize they lost their own freedom when they partnered up with the Socialist priesthood in spite of T. J.’s warning:

At the same time Americans are losing their God-given freedoms to totalitarian priests democracy is on the march everywhere. I can understand it in Third World countries where the false promise of freedom through democracy sells better than ice cubes in a desert. I can’t understand it when free people willingly march backward toward democracy.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard apparently does not know that it ain’t democracy if it is not run by cashed-up interest groups, nor did she ever hear of John Adams:

    It gets better down under:

The Tea Party! Is that guy for real. Doesn’t he know that the American media wrote the Tea Party’s obituary months ago? Even if Gillard and Swan are correct Tea Partiers consider it a compliment.

    Now for the fun part:

Forcing people to vote is the strangest variation of “democracy” money law that I’ve ever heard of. Mr. Adams would gleefully call it assisted suicide.

Finally, there are two kinds of political animals in this world. Those who always find somebody in government to follow, and those who always find somebody in government to avoid. I must count myself among the latter because finding anyone in government worth admiring is as rare as finding a virgin in a whorehouse.

I just wonder how do we avoid recreating company stores? I don't want paid in script only my employer will honor and setting prices that keep me in perpetual debt to him.

We created legal tender to end the exploitative practice of company stores.

To SiliconMagician: Wow. You stunned me with that one because it reminded me of a message I originally posted in October 2001. Let me thank you for giving me the opportunity to cover an aspect of the topic I overlooked in the OP.

In 2009, after Hoyer’s ludicrous comments, and almost three years before the Supreme Court legitimated the Affordable Care Act in 2012, I touched upon the company town on another message board:

Once Americans accept the government’s authority to implement forced purchasing in healthcare it will move to the government forcing Americans to buy everything in the name of the general welfare. It must end up with forced vaccinations, forced sterilizations, forced abortions, and just about every thing else you’d care to name.

That teenage boy that was forced to take chemotherapy a few months ago shows that Democrats are already chomping on the bit to initiate medical butchery. The court issued the order, but nobody in the Congress, or in the Justice Department, stood up for that young man’s Right to refuse.

Socialists must tell Americans what to do rather than tell them what not to do. Hoyer’s attempt to rationalize the only way Socialists can govern is pathetic. Members of Congress work for the American people not the other way around. Democrats, and their Socialist judges, telling taxpayers what to do, and now what to buy, is the same as an employee ordering the employer around.

Hoyer’s stated views establishes an employer/employee relationship with the tax collector as the employer.

    XXXXX

From the day Socialists lied there way into power they tried to legislate love. Their attempts ended in failure; hence, the final move toward making America a company town.

The real perversion is that in their own minds they think they are hot shot salesmen. Holding a gun to someone’s head is not salesmanship. In reality, those characters could not give away pardons on death row let alone sell a product without the power of government behind them. Aside from marketing a product in a free society, the parasite ain’t been born who can create and manufacture a product that anybody wants to buy.

Rather than tell Hoyer that the government has no constitutional authority to force Americans to buy anything, someone should ask him for a list of things the government cannot force Americans to buy? That list will be very short if not void.

Like every other Democrat liar, Hoyer is double-speaking socialism. His goal is to use the General Welfare clause to impose socialism/communism on every American.

NOTE: The term “common good” used to be the Democrat party’s favorite welfare phrase. Hoyer is replacing common good with the term “general welfare.” The switch is understandable because the common good cannot be found in the Constitution.

The word welfare appears twice in the Constitution. Both times it is written as the “general Welfare.” First in the preamble then in Section 8.

Socialists/Communists posing as leading Democrats have perverted general welfare so that it now means individual welfare.

Hoyer is deliberately lying when he invokes the General Welfare clause. (A wag might say that Hoyer is pulling a Section Eight.) What’s worse is that he does not know what he is talking about when he tries to justify his lie. If, in Hoyer’s definition of general welfare, there was no individual welfare from the beginning, how come the Socialists/Communists needed the XVI Amendment to make the welfare state possible?

Incidentally, the XVI Amendment does not give Congress, or the courts, or the president, the authority to tell Americans what to do or what to buy. This is what it says:

Hoyer indirectly referred to the XVI Amendment when he said that levying taxes was the same as forcing people to buy healthcare insurance:

Hoyer pulled a neat piece of doublespeak when he compared a health insurance mandate to the government’s power to levy taxes, saying “. . . we mandate other things as well, like paying taxes.” The government does have the constitutional authority to levy taxes, but there is no constitutional authority to force the people to buy something no matter how you slice it.

Bottom line: Let the government raise taxes to pay for HillaryCare II if it is so important for the general welfare.

The truth is that Democrats would have to tax incomes to such a level the public would surely vote every Democrat out of office if not revolt. So the Pelosis, the Hoyers, the Reids, etc., are trying to help their pals in the insurance industry, in the medical industry, and on Wall Street, by forcing individuals to buy insurance so that they, Democrats, don’t pay the price for raising taxes past the breaking point.

The final insult in our company town is forcing Americans to volunteer —— then paying them with tax dollars. Hussein & Company announced a policy of national service a few months ago. National service (forced volunteerism) is still out there although HillaryCare II and Afghanistan have been getting all of the coverage of late.

Let me remind everyone that the Democrat party is the party of the rich. I’d like to ask every Democrat millionaire this question: Since the general welfare is so important to your party, how would you like it if the parasites took all of your money and spent it on the general welfare? Then forced you to volunteer for community service? They would have no complaints if it happens because that is what the Communists did to private fortunes when they took over in czarist Russia.

Here in America, the Communists are reversing the strategy that brought them to, and kept them in, power in the Soviet Union for 70 years. They are getting rich on tax dollars first; before they enslave private sector Americans in a global company town as surely as Soviet Communists enslaved the Russian people after deposing the czar. It is only a matter of time before they work their way up to confiscating every private fortune large and small.
