    Exactly!

That's why the TEA Party exist.

The majority of the people in this country think "the government is so vast" and needs to be downsized greatly.

But this is an issue faced by many post WW2 Presidents. For some reason the Republican's have chosen to place responsibility for everything negative at the presidents feet, while playing down anything positive as being achieved by someone else

Yeah, Democrats did nothing like placing all blame at Bush's feet... Thanks for the laugh...

Don't go all rabid cossowary on me, just pointing out the inconsistency in your statement...

Both sides do it, but I'd never admit my side is wrong, that would totally kill my political hack status...

I am not saying anything of the sort. American voters are pretty tired of these politically divisive debates. The first party to stand up and prove it is better than the other is going to see a real shift in it's popularity. And even when dealing with negatives there are ways to put positive spins on them. Bush got reamed over Katrina. Obama got praise for Sandy. The reality is the reforms Bush bought into FEMA caused the issues with Katrina, but his administrations fine tuning of FEMA lead to the success in responding to Sandy.

But what did Republicans focus on? Blasting Christie for his positive comments about Federal support for his water soaked state.

Hey, you're talking all sensible here, and while I can agree with you on much of it, the current political climate on forums of hyper-polarization just makes such conversations nearly impossible.

In order to retain even the slightest street cred, I must respond with, democrats and liberals just suck... :)

Actually, the fastest way to get over this mess is for Obama to step up and say "Yes my government has been accused of a lot of errors and of committing a lot of excesses. It is not enough to take 'responsibility' when one refuses consequences. To change direction and to demonstrate my seriousness in this issue, I have asked for and accepted the resignations of the following senior personnel. Secretary Holder, Secretary Sebelious, the acting director of the IRS, the Assistant Secretary at the Dept of Justice responsible for the AP records issue, Patrick Kennedy, Ms Lamb and a score of lesser officials. In addition, I will welcome and support a select committee to investigate the following events...

    1. Benghazi
    2. The IRS
    3. The private funding issues in HHS from entities regulated
    4. Any political influence used in decision making at the EPA
    5. The AP records grab

I will fully and completely cooperate with any and all requests for data and testimony"

I am not holding my breath

"Axelrod: Government ‘So Vast,‘ Obama Can't Know About Wrongdoing"

    Taxcutter asks:
If Axelrod is right, is that not a good reason to substantially reduce the size and scope of the federal government?

I think it's quite funny that they are creating yet ANOTHER scandal by constantly saying all these Dept. heads have no idea what is going on in their own departments. If they are that incompetent, they MUST GO!

Anyone who has worked for a very large corporation, but worked in a remote location by themselves know what's expected of them. At some point, maybe even in the interview process employees are hired for just that purpose. If that person does something to physically or financially injure another, the company and the people responsible for putting the employee in the position to do such harm are indeed legally responsible. While the the Government is vast, the IRS has 33 regional level offices in 50 states. That means there are 33 regional directors. Issuing neutrality directives to 33 regional directors to re-distribute the the managers under them is NOT to vast. If it is too vast then the Government is too large to operate effectively and must be reduced in size till it is. If it's not to large to operate effectively, then this was indeed done on purpose at some level of regional management be it directly or through willful ignorance.

We simply can't accept "I didn't know" as any kind of excuse. If you didn't know, you should have known, it's why we pay you.

He just described exactly the main problem of the government being too large.

Ah, now we are getting a glisp of what the lefts (and probably the media) narrative will be during these early investigations. Thank you Axeman for letting us in on the first excuse.....wonder how many more you have dreamed up. I'm sure we'll know over the next few days and weeks.

The question then becomes, what is your list of things the government should step away from?

Everything not covered in the Constitution. That means almost everything but national defense and border protection... Anything more is simply the incursion of wicked communism...
