Democrats are quickly becoming “the party of upscale voters,” while Republicans set their sights on a populist “multiracial coalition of working-class voters,” Axios details. In a “seismic” political realignment, according to Axios ,which cited a New York Times/Siena College Poll, Democrats are now most favored by white college-educated Americans as Republicans are increasingly favored by the nation’s non-college-educated voters and Hispanic Americans. “Democrats are becoming the party of upscale voters concerned more about issues like gun control and abortion rights. Republicans are quietly building a multiracial coalition of working-class voters, with inflation as an accelerant,” Axios’s Mike Allen reports: Dems’ fortunes are bolstered by a slice of well-off socially liberal voters who disapprove of Biden’s performance — yet reliably support Democrats for other races. [Emphasis added] The realignment has become increasingly clear as former President Trump has massively bolstered the GOP’s support among working and middle class Americans with an economic nationalist agenda encompassing tighter labor markets, reshoring manufacturing, reducing immigration, and a restrained foreign policy. That agenda is hugely favored by a large bloc of the American electorate… “… we must rebuild an economy that works for all citizens, especially the forgotten men and women left behind by decades of open borders, unfettered trade, and globalization.” Such populism is again being embraced by GOP voters... They find that the idea of the GOP building a bigger tent multiracial working and middle class coalition is real and not just a motto. The democrat left is also shifting to white college educated urban and inner suburb rich people.
This is evidence coming from a left of center source and polling data that there is a realignment going on between the two Parties and their composition. Very informative.
It’s absolutely correct. The left has lost all sense of identity at least compared to what they used to be. Truly they have become the party of authoritarianism.
Here’s the article straight from AXIOS https://www.axios.com/2022/07/14/republicans-democrats-hispnanic-voters?stream=top I agree with AXIOS, there is a realignment happening. I’ve been studying trends in politics for a long time. The Democrats have been slowly losing the working class to the GOP. This sums it up from the article backed up by polls. The big picture: Republicans are becoming more working class and a little more multiracial. Democrats are becoming more elite and a little more white. I also love the Bottom line in the article: The GOP is trading soccer moms for Walmart dads. What my trend stats show is blacks have been slowly moving to the GOP. Trump received 12% of the black vote in 2020, the most for any Republican presidential candidate since Gerald Ford 15% in back in 1976. Trump received 32% of the Hispanic vote, With G.W. Bush being an exception, that percentage was the highest since Reagan back in 1984. As for border states, Trump received 41% of the Hispanic vote in Texas, 38% in New Mexico and 37% in Arizona. Compare that to 22% in New York State. Trends also show the south becoming bluer and the Midwest redder. Just in case you’re interested. Arizona from an R+6 down to an R+3. Moving blue. 11 electoral votes Florida from R+1 to a R+3 getting slightly redder. 30 electoral votes Georgia from a R+10 down to an R+2 Moving blue 16 electoral votes Michigan from a D+6 to a R+1 Moving Red 15 electoral votes Minnesota from a D+10 down to a D+1 moving Red 10 electoral votes Nevada from D+3 to even Moving Red 6 electoral votes North Carolina from an R+13 down to a R+2 moving blue 16 electoral votes Ohio From an R+4 up to an R+6 Becoming more red 17 electoral votes Pennsylvania from D+4 to even moving red 19 electoral votes Texas from an R+20 down to an R+5 moving blue 40 electoral votes Wisconsin from a D+10 to a R+2 moving red 10 electoral votes
I think the bottom line is politicians can’t intentionally inflict pain on people and still expect their votes.
And yet the democrats and the left possess the sheer condescending arrogance to believe that they could do just that.
