Every time we have a mass killing the Democrats and the fake media jump on the "background checks" bandwagon. Regrettably most folks that aren't familiar with the existing firearms regulations jump on this as well, after all, it sounds like a great idea. What they don't know is FBI background checks have been a requirement to legally purchase a firearm from a federally licensed dealer since 1998. Anyone that buys [many] guns to sell for a profit is considered a dealer and must have a Federal Firearms License (FFL). I don't have a problem with this though sometimes it takes a few hours for this "instant" check. What the anit-gun folks want is a 'universal" background check. This means if I sell a 1939 Colt National Match to my friend of 50 years I would be forced to get a background check on my friend. If I give my son (a police officer) a gun from my collection I would be forced to get a background check on my son. I have a BIG problem with this. Not only is it a clear infringement on my 2A rights, it creates a de facto gun registration data base. Gun owners know why this has been ruled unconstitutional. The best argument is background checks don't work to weed out the wackos that would do something so horrible. Background checks cannot, by law, look into the mental health of an individual.

This isn't rocket surgery folks, we don't have a gun problem we have a mental health problem that NO politician is willing to address.
