... for the past few days, and finally registered.

Independent, with some room for negotiation on particular subjects.

Make your argument, and see if you can sway me.... :D

Obama has recovered the losses in employment made in 2008. Has held the debt steady, lowered taxes for middle income people. The USA now does better than most places in the first world. And America is a trusted and liked source of power in the world, rather than a dangerous gambler.

Oh and healthcare. Never had that safety before, now you do.

Yes, indeed, Ive done what you asked. Now go away and think about it or tell me what you dont agree with.

By the way, what issues would make you vote for Obama?

That would be an entire thread, but I'm game. ;)

First and foremost, the Insurance Mandate (also erronously known as ACA) did nothing to address actual healthcare, it's driving costs or physical accessibility for lower income/rural areas. It was a flag that the current administration was determined would be done, and ignoring the general needs to make healthcare affordable, force fed a program that assisted one industry, the insurance companies.

    That interesting, probably true also.

But is that a reason to vote for Obama or to vote for Romney?

Obama would have to step back and rescind the tax (penalty) in the ACA, and stop the additional taxes on medical device makes, and quite a few other things involved with the ACA for me even to consider him. Many broken promisies from his first term, don't think we will see any change in the second.

Romney would have to change a few of his stances regarding military and illegal immigration for him to be considered. I don't trust Romney, he also will cater to cronies.

Kind of narrows the field. ;)

Riight so given that Obama isnt going to change any of this for you, and you know that, then your choice is already made and therefore the point of this thread is in fact a deception correct?

Anyway whats your problem with broken promises? Does every person you elect who claims he'll do this and that have to meet all those claims? Isnt that unreasonable for any position?

This was my 'intro' thread, not an open thread in one of the regular discussions.

What deception? I offered up that I am an independent, but some of my views were up for negotiation. I didn't say anything about how I was voting, nor that discussion would change who I voted for, but that perhaps I could be swayed on some of my views.

You brought up the election aspect. Not every discussion on this forum is regarding how someone is going to vote.

Yes, they've all broken promises, but it seems Obama has even angered some of his own supporters, not creating the change that he promoted during his intial campaign. Bush blew it on any number of promises, but he also kept quite a few.

No candidate is perfect, and outside influences and events will impact any set plans. Obama (supposedly) knew what he was walking into, but other than his flag on the ACA, has reneged on a great deal. I don't think Romney will be successful in some of his big promises either, unless there is a drastic change in Congress, which I don't foresee happening.

Obama ripped the country apart in his effort to enact Obamacare. Folks on the right aren't going to get over this. They're going to fight like hell to rescind Obamacare or to screw up its implementation. The American left has simply achieved permanent domestic strife.
