It will be interesting to see what if anything US elite global corporations Do to respond to this production and supply chain nationalization by their preferred most favored nation.

Will they seek “help” from DC in the form of cash? Maybe they’ll ask that the US tests its investment in Aircraft carriers - you know, project a bit of that American Military Power toward China!?

What will Trump do? Hahaha, nothing effective I can be pretty sure of.

To quote from your link, Bahamas Health Minister Dr. Duane Sands,

“It’s very challenging when you don’t have enough supplies to meet the needs of your own institutions. I am in no way condoning or endorsing anything. I am simply saying as we watch the challenge it is also very, very difficult,” he said. “For all intensive purposes, borders are now shut, and without wanting to be flippant or dismissive, it’s every man for himself and God for us all.”

It’s definitely an odd situation. It’s the first time that the US Navy has been deployed to the Caribbean to fight “the war on drugs”. Apparently with another mandate to stop and frisk outbound cargo for medical supplies?

Both the US and the PRC have an obligation to prioritize these medical supplies for their nations.

So I’m not faulting the PRC for doing its job. I’m faulting years of failed policy in DC and the Deep Street for putting the US in a situation where it has lost not just control of production, but even of the ability to produce. That service based economy is rapidly flying across the ocean as well....

Also, A lack of these materials effects US military preparedness. I find this particularly heinous given the insane amount of time, money and emphasis that the US places on its military.

the problem is no one see this kind demand in PPE globally, 3m have factory in US making mask, but they couldn't fulfill the demand. same with purell sanitizer, which is made in US, yet they couldn't fulfill the sudden raise in demand. i mean look at toilet paper which is mostly made in US, yet its out of stock everywhere. The fact is when you have demand raise by 10-20 fold, supply just can't keep up
