Ben Carson told Breitbart's podcast on Friday that his new organization is launching a free children's curriculum to counter critical race theory and woke educators.

The American Cornerstone Institute's Little Patriots program is a resource for kindergartners through the fifth grade to learn about American history without divisive racial premises, according to Carson.

"We decided to put together a learning program at American Cornerstone, which is a think-tank-slash-do-tank, that means we don't just think about stuff, we actually do things to solve problems," the former Republican presidential candidate explained.

The Little Patriots program's latest feature is "Star Spangled Adventures," which Carson described as "a free cartoon series ... perfect for private and public schools."…

en Carson is doing America a great service as reported here. We need to avoid divisiveness in the teaching of our history and about our country. He’s putting his ideas and ideals into real life practice rather than just talking about it.

I am curious to what he means in reality, what would such history retelling mean - does that mean pushing religion?

Why? Why can’t we be honest? Why do we need to whitewash everything?

It's a voluntary program, whereas CRT is not.

I get the feel in many cases, parents don't actually care what goes on with their children, and school is just a really cheap day care center until they are 18 ;)

The newest version of the climate change deniers mindset has presented itself. It's the mindset of denying that CRT is taught anywhere outside the college setting. And just as unproductive as debating climate change with the deniers can be, so too is any debate with CRT deniers.

other than the rare idiot, no one tries to teach CRT at a school

you also get rare idiots that tell children they are going to hell and burn crosses in their arms

but this is being proposed as part of the Curriculum, the right wants to brainwash our children

    A concession?
Ben Carson's program is entirely up to the parents to sign up for. They know what they're getting. Not so with public schools, which is why they should have never gone remote learning giving parents an opportunity to see what their children were being taught. That was a huge mistake on the part of the teacher's unions.

    Concession? of what?

no, it is being forced on other people's children, it's not a elective they can opt in too - Republicans are trying to push Religion in our schools (I guess cause Sunday School is such a failure)

Religious affiliation is in a steep decline — they know they only way to “save” it is to push it on the youth before they can really form independent ideas.

The rights version of patriotism (unquestioning adoration) is also seeing similar declines in the youth as they have the ability to see events on a global scale.

Christian nationalism must be fought against as a domestic terrorist entity.

I'm not opposed to parents being able to have a say in the curriculum, as long as those who want them to be able to ban things like CRT and 1619 are fine with them banning other things those folks may like as well.

CRT teaches racism and hatred. Carson is promoting appreciation and encourages participation in the opportunities offered by our country....and understanding those opportunities starts with appreciating our ancestors and what they did to give us what we have now. No one needs to be "white washed". They simply shouldn't be demonized.

CRT shouldn’t be taught in lower levels period — but it doesn’t demonize any group, it simply shows how many of societies structures are based on principles of discrimination.

I think the issue with many have — and why there is so much dishonesty around what the core thought of CRT is — is many idealize the US and dislike any thought that harms that belief structure. The same people that are wanting America to be “great again” but cannot name when this again period is — the same people changing America is #1 while ignoring the massive issues this country faces — are the same people that despise CRT.

This new desire to indoctrinate nationalism on the very young is as bad as the teachers trying to teach trans issues.

Teaching appreciation is not indoctrination. Right now children are being taught that America's founding is bad. Thanksgiving Holiday is being replaced by Native Americans Day and not acknowledged. Columbus is demonized....but we wouldn't exist as a nation with out him accidently finding us. Our pioneers that risked life and limb to take their families and build a new life in the west are considered theives and murderers. Same with the Pilgrims...which set a strong seed for our foundation as a free country.

Once you stop appreciating our past, you cease to see how our opportunities came about. Then you start whining about wanting what others have instead of taking part and building your own future.

Nothing positive comes from teaching kids to have contempt for their country, their ancestors and their history.

So because these people did something “good” you believe that their “bad” should be erased?

How about we just teach fact (all the fact) and not try to teach “appreciation” — which is absolutely indoctrination.

That is absolutely absurd — teaching appreciation is the exact same level of indoctrination that teaching contempt. If your goal is to teach a positively tweaked version of our history then you are just as extreme as those wanting to teach a negatively tweaked version of it.

You just don’t care because one of them reinforces your ideology.
