Started from the beginning. Evidently, a widely held view. Good thing there is video.

Every single American ought to be concerned about this. This is not something to be celebrated. Our police are NOT the military.

    Posse Comitatus is meaningless.

    This makes me ****ing sick.

I don't think its the police's job to facilitate orderly protests.

That's the responsibility of the protesters.

LOL Its not the job of the police to ensure law and order? What planet are you on? Contingencies for these events have and always will be a must. No one has or ever rationally would just expect protesters to get along and abide by all rules.

It is the responsibility of protesters to abide by the law - it is the responsibility of police to enforce such law where they fail to do so.

What alternative do you propose to stop these violent protests?

How about not telling the police to stand down?

The police don't have a right to arm themselves with machine guns the second a crowd gets unruly - what you suggest is the actions of an occupying military force.

The police should never have been told to stand down and should use a wide array of non-lethal means to deal with violent crowds.

The state is getting entirely too much power.

You are saying the police were stood down in the previous incidents?

I'd suggest they arm themselves BEFORE the crowd gets unruly.

Which they use apparently by standing everyone down. hmmm

Nah................go with the Jerry Springer Doctrine. Let them mix it up and then separate them when it gets rough.;) (not)

Free speech and demonstrations are constitutional and must be allowed. However, when it gets violent knock some heads together and send them to lockup. Letting the violence get out of hand is the problem. Make an example out of some of the "early adopters" and watch it calm down.

.50 cal beanbag machine guns that'll crack bones, pepper balls, and gas grenades. Toss a few water cannons in there too. Make them scared to get violent if they're protesting.

Agreed. They know the likelihood of taking a bullet is highly unlikely but a beanbag to the balls is to be expected. THAT IS FEAR! :roflol:

Unfortunately a select few are forcing the police into responding like the military. Knock it off and it will go away

No. You don't get it. It was a “March Against Marxism” rally. Calling them fascists doesn't make it so. No, the guys in the black masks are not the victims.

That's a great idea, but unless you want to get assaulted by the Stalinists in ANSWER and Antifa you'd better not show up.

After this and the debacle in Charlottesville it's become clear that the authorities in "progressive"-controlled cities will not maintain public order and safety. Free speech is pretty much dead in those cities and towns.

And what else do Charlottesville and Berkeley have in common?

    Lunatic "progressive" fringe mayors.

Arpaio is an anti-American, petty tyrant who believes he is above the law. You are no better than Antifa if you support that man and his destruction of the core American principles of liberty.

Arpaio is a great man and a true patriot. He enforces the laws on the books and no more.

The Judge presiding over his case is an anti-American activist judge who should be removed from the bench for obstructing justice.

When an anti-fascist initiates violence against a fascist or anyone else they are the bad guys. Noam Chomsky had it right: Antifa do the left massive disservice. We live under a system with universal human rights.

    Fascists are still people.

How would such be done? Do not judges enjoy the legal concept of absolute immunity?
