Berkeley Pro Free Speech Protesters Chase Out AntiFA

The way I see it I applaud the people fighting the Antifas. There is only so much of the bullshit and the assaults that a person can reasonably take until you push so much that it gets violent. I applaud the free speech warriors at Berkeley.

 

It looks like two groups of thugs to me. Two groups of people looking for a confrontation, and getting one.

For one side to blame the other for this ignores that both sides were looking for it.

 

One group had a permit to be their and give speeches, the other group tries to violently shut that down.
BIG DIFFERENCE.

 

They did that before when that Yiannopolous talk was canceled and the cops sat back and watched as the rioters marched through downtown breaking windows and looting the starbucks.

You'll probably never get any response that makes sense from the police because I'm guessing that the berkeley city council and the mayor are the ones that told the police not to do anything. It probably goes something like "they're just looking for trouble by having a trump rally here, so if anything happens, they are asking for it."

I don't really blame the cops for not doing anything. If they started busting heads, the citizens of berkeley would go nuts with cries of police brutality. It's a bit like Mississippi burning. You've got the mayor and the chief of police that refuse to protect civil rights workers because they're just asking for trouble, so why not let them find it.

 

In the videos you can clearly hear bangs and detonations. One person in one of the videos reported that the antifa crowd was throwing M80s.

When I was a kid M80s were just another fire work, it's my understanding now that the BAETF classifies them as a controlled explosive device. I can remember occasionally using them as a kid and they CAN do pretty serious damage.

I hate to defend the idea of federal intervention in local affairs but if the police are going to turn a blind eye the FBI should be involved and start reviewing the Berkeley police. The police have done this enough that it is long overdue and it is only blind luck that no one has been killed yet.

It is pretty clear antifa is escalating and will probably continue to do so. It's only a matter of time until guns are used as they were in another city ( by someone defending themselves from antifa ).

 

He is a coward also, bi-partisanship how about that.

I tend to have sympathy for people who have suffered a wrong, even if they've done immense evil previously. Clearly that's not these neo-Nazis, who have done nothing but stand up for their beliefs, but actual Nazi SS members who were summarily executed, sure I feel some sympathy for them. Screw that.

I don't think that feeling sympathy means you condone their beliefs or their past actions, it just means you're a decent human being.

How so?

When people are assaulting you for your speech, it's not a freedom of speech issue in that the government is violating your 1st amendment rights, I agree with that.

But that doesn't mean it isn't a freedom of speech issue. Individuals cannot violate the 1st amendment, but they can act in a way which intentionally obstructs your speech. This is contrary to the principle of free speech, not the constitution of the US.

So, if a Nazi saying "The Holocaust didn't happen, the Jews lied" is punched in the face, and that assailant intends to obstruct his victim's speech, then he has violated his freedom of speech in a philosophical rather than legal sense. If the law seeks to apply a penalty to such comments, then the government has violated both the 1st amendment, and the freedom of speech which that amendment protects.

 

IOW, the "Nazi salutes" meme is another fabrication. What a shock!

I've been to some massive demonstrations/counter-demonstrations in DC and nothing like that ever happened. It's enough to make me wonder if there was a deliberate lack of security at that event...

 

It's a man's world. But it's OK, maybe he's muslim.
