LOLOL.. Every family had to have 20-30 head.. Of course by the time the 2 million Israelites arrived in Canaan the population was about 1500 people.. Jerusalem was about 10 acres.
Your point? Sure, you can spare a sheep or two to eat, but keep in mind sheep back then was a person's wealth. You're not going to eat half your herd. Again, your point?
No, it doesn't. If scripture can't stand on it's own merit, it deserves no benefit of any doubt. Afterall, it's the inspired word of an infallible god. If it's not, then this discussion is fruitless.
There is no context. 18 is a hard number. 8 is a hard number. Sure, one can make up anything they like to explain a difference. But no one has to take made up stuff as an explanation. Either the scriptures stand on their own, or they can't be taken as some inspired word of some infallible god.
I am. Neither I nor the Bible claimed it was a natural occurrence. In fact that was the point of mentioning it. It wasn't natural.
You have yet to show that it can't stand on it's own merit. Like I said numerous times. I'm not here to argue whether or not the Bible is inspired and infallible. All I'm here for is to address the claim that certain Bible passages contradict each other.
For one, they had faith (for the most part) that they will be in the promise land. So they would of saved their herds for that time. For another, they didn't went hungry.
It isn't a made up explanation, actually. this link and video does a better job at explaining it. If you can get past the atheist bashing from the site, it goes into detail how the two passages are correct and don't contradict. http://www.creationliberty.com/articles/bc-jehoiachin.php
I have always found the time frame too be a ridiculou s argument. Couldn't one of God's days be a million or a billion of our years. Look at the fossil record as a sculpture going from rough idea to final project; and that is not too say that we are the be all end all either.
One can put any number they want to one of god's days. One can put anything at all, most often happens, to a god. There are 1000s upon 1000s of gods and all have any features that one wants to put to them.
