I don't think you are right about that. I've not heard anyone complain about legal immigration. The catch is that it's up to us to invite someone in. It's our right to know who they are, and what they bring to the nation in terms of character. Illegal immigration denies us that- and every illegal immigrant's first act is to break our laws. I see that as a character statement, and one that should forever bar that person from the US.
It's really foolish to dismiss that because of some sympathetic emotion.

Virtually all Americans derived from immigrants. My great-grandparents came from Germany around 1875. The illegals are not in any way the same kind of people. This is nothing like orderly immigration, this is invasion- like squatter smoving into your house, and thinking they have every right to do so without your permission or knocking on your door. The time to stop that is immediately, and non-negotiably. If you don't- you will have exactly what we have got. The assumption that America is being given away free.

Republicans and conservatives seem to place a lot more importance of following the laws than the democrats and liberals do. Laws aren't negotiable conveniences, and many on the left seem to think they are
The correct policy is to follow thee rules, enforce the laws. Like our constitution. It provides for change. If you don't like what it says, you get legislation to change it passed in congress, then ratified by the states- and then, it says something else. BUT until it's changed, what it says is the law.

IF laws aren't enforced, if they are rubber bands, then there is no law- only chaos. Look around right now, and chaos is pretty much everywhere.
