I'm sorry to break this to you but Donald Trump is the first pro-lgbt rights President we've ever had.

Bill Clinton enacted defense of marriage act, and he believed that marriage is between a man and a woman only. George Bush supported those things. Barack Obama in his campaign said that he believed marriage was between a man and a woman only and he did nothing to further LGBT rights. In fact I'd say be hindered them globally by being apologetic for Islam.

Hillary Clinton was against same-sex marriage when she ran the first time.

It doesn't seem to be a thing that Trump is concerned with it seems to be something Republicans are concerned with but then again Trump is a bit out of the ordinary for a Republican.

The problem with living by the Supreme Court is you die by the Supreme Court. If they dictate at one point that the fourteenth Amendment says same-sex marriage is constitutional they can dictate that it's not at another point.

you don't get to have a supreme power in that you or your party always gets to pick the Supreme Court justices. just like waiting Obama got in office he started making all these executive orders and when Donald Trump got in office he started undoing them all with executive orders.

 

Trump has installed 51 federal judges, in his effort to dismantle Roe and any constitutional theory that lead it any credence. That will inevitably include Obergefell. I somehow doubt he will keep miscalculating a la Kavanaugh at this rate. We don't give a crap about what he says he believes or says he believed about same sex marriage equality. He will destroy gay rights given another four years.

 

So what? It isn't inshrined in the Constitution. Live by the judiciary die by the judiciary. if it can decide that something is constitutional it can also decide that something is not. Your party doesn't get to control all of the things all the time.

the decision was made when Barack Obama was in office did you think he was going to be an office for life? did you think there would never be another Republican elected that would pick Supreme Court judges? The judiciary isn't a left-wing dictator it is a branch of the government and it will change.

If he can do that they're not rights. They're temporary privileges you had while under that Supreme Court decision.

This is why you don't use the judiciary to legislate. If Donald Trump gets another term he most likely will have another Supreme Court Justice to pick.

when he's out maybe some other justices will resign and the next person will get to pick and round and round it goes.

That's likely true, since Obergefell was a train wreck of a decision. However it's possible to be in favor of gay rights and not be in favor of raping the Constitution.

Clinton was duped into the Defense of marriage act. It was supposed to be in return for an Employment Nondiscrimination Act that never happened. He also did it to head off a push for a constitutional amendment declaring that marriage was a man and a woman

 

At that time it would have been political suicide to support same sex marriage. I don't know what either of them believed but I don't fault them for the public position that they took. In any case, people can and do evolve on issues, so please, give credit for it if that is what happened.

Sorry when he ran for office he said marriage was between a man and a woman both times. When his dumbass wife ran for office the first time she said it was between man and woman. the only reason she didn't the second time minutes because the politics had shifted.

I'm sorry political parties in the people in them are not my friends. I know there's people out there that it put it in cat butt porque rights, through a lot of people that vote Republican that do two and they're both sides that don't.

Sure people can change their opinions. Point is I never heard Donald Trump say that marriage is between a man and a woman only. I'm not just talking about his presidency the man has been relatively well known for decades.

And I'm sorry biden isn't the glimmering hope. LGBT people have had more bites now than they ever have in this country before.

I know Democrats really want credit for everything, but I'm sorry the turning point was decided by the judiciary. Democrats get some credit.

Joe Biden gets nothing. Sorry. He didn't appoint justices he didn't do anything.

 

I repeat . He is a souless empty shell of a sub human being with no principles or core values. He will do and say anything to advance his best interest at any given time. I have trouble understanding why you can't see that and keep singing his praises as an advocate fore gay rights
