Well hell- then since the debt and spending make no difference, why not just give every citizen a $million bucks, and stop collecting taxes? No need for taxes. We will just borrow more money to cover the interest, and buy everything on credit. We just raise the debt ceiling to cover that. To hell with future generations, they can do the same and pass it on. Brilliant thinking.

The only way some people learn is to experience the disaster they created themselves and disregarded all the warning signs that told them failure was inevitable. They refuse to consider they might be wrong, and just don't go there- then are shocked when it hits them. That unfortunately is a weakness of human nature, and we have a lot of it..

There's nothing more to be said.

Once again.. REFUSING TO RAISE THE DEBT CEILING DOES NOT CUT SPENDING

WHETHER YOU RAISE THE DEBT CEILING OR NOT HAS NO IMPACT ON SPENDING. THE DEBT CEILING IS BASED ON MONEY THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN SPENT, AND THE DEBT THAT IS OWED BASED ON THAT MONEY THAT WAS ALREADY SPENT

Nobody is saying that spending doesn't matter, but if you want to cut spending, that is a decision made when we pass the annual budget PRIOR. It is not a decision made by refusing to raise the debt ceiling, because by then that money has already been spent. To avoid a financial crisis, it is imperative that we meet our responsibilities for our due bills. When we refuse to raise the debt ceiling, we are failing to pay our due bills by choice. We are preventing payment on debt that has already been made

Do you understand why that is a bad choice to make?
