Well if it didn't I wouldn't have mentioned it would I, so how is placing the battery in a shell around the tank as armor better than reactive plates on top of Chobham, please enlighten me

Weight is weight and density is density. Same amount of battery and same amount of amour and the amour is necessary to PROTECT the battery. What do you think happens when anti-tank missile hits the inside of a battery?

And let's see you could probable take the diesel for the generator and fill up a diesel tank in about 15 minutes.

Possible by 2030???? Go ahead professor explain why the batteries for the tank will be easier to develop and manufacture than for huge semi's.

Well, hitting a battery with a pellet gun is similar to what happens when you hit a tank with an anti-tank missile.

Just think of the money we can save! ;-)

    That's the spirit!
Musk will probably figure out how to make a 10,000 kWh AA real soon. :)

No. What does that have to do with the fact that she was not talking about electrifying tanks?

Military procurement procedures will weed out the worst of the stuff and what makes it through will be the best compromise available.

And that will still happen. She wasn’t talking about electrifying tanks.

The armor it there to prevent it but in the case of the reactive and explosion occurs which deflects the blast back outward and the tank continues. What happens when it hits the battery as armor, all that lithium.

Can you quote her statement - her exact words - and the correction?
I understood her to be talking about using biofuels rather than fossil fuels. But I would be interested if you can point me to her statement about using electric motors for battle tanks.

You think that the battery case is going to be like an off the shelf car battery casing?

You said the she said we don't have to electrify every vehicle. That we are doing anything to be climate friendly like using biodiesel from Iowa. I was asking what about using biodiesel makes it climate friendly?

Heavens NO. A car battery case cannot come close to handling 2000 lbs, let alone a few tons.

Ask her. All I’m doing is saying that she wasn’t suggesting that every vehicle would be electrified.

It's a renewable source that when burnt produces the same amount of greenhouse gases that the plant absorbed while growing. Petroleum diesel adds greenhouse gases and other toxic chemicals into the atmosphere

I think you better put that battery behind the ammunition inside the vehicle and not have shells hitting outside destroying them and blasting lithium inside and it seems the more knowledgeable in the DoD sent word for her to back off her statement.

It's not easy to compare because biodegradable fuel varies (corn differs from wheat differs from vegetable oil differs from wood, e.g.) but on a gross scale wood emits about 30% more CO2 (gram for gram for comparable energy) than diesel or gasoline. This does not take into account the sequestering (absorbing) done by wood and plants planted to replace the used fuel, which is probably significant. It also does not include the excess CO2 emitted in processing biodegradables compared to fossil fuel production. Like when they originally touted ethanol as emitting less CO2 because it burns cleaner. Then they found out there is more CO2 emitted in processing corn for ethanol than there is CO2 saved. So they quickly switched to other reasons.
