If this is all he accomplishes, bringing back some sanity and a return to normalcy, yes. Anything else will be icing on the cake.

I sure Biden will be overt on somethings, but covert on others. There are certain things the government in order to be successful must retain secrecy.

Absolutely. I trust Biden and his experience far more than that other one. There is the possibility they may discover something DJT's admin had done that has huge ramifications for our country that may not be suitable for public consumption simply to keep the country together.

Hopefully that his war starting record is more like Trump's than Obama's.

Weird how the “peace movement” never came out in support of President Trump, huh?

The national minimum wage and what it does to small business. If I were an elite looking to demolish competition, this is certainly would be high on my list.

The pointless new wars in the Middle East. If I were part of the military industrial complex, a new war would certainly be high on my list.

Social media laws that demolish the only competitors to big tech. If I were part of the Silicon elite, this would be a no-brainer.

More lockdowns. A very effective method of once again smashing small business in the mouth.

Lots of identity politics and white supremacy fear mongering. A very smooth method of get new laws passed that are akin to the enabling act used in Germany. Stripping human rights from the plebes may be the highest priority for the people puppeteering Biden.

New energy regulations that negatively impact the poor and working class and funnels that money to the elite.

Basically name a single thing that Biden has proposed that doesn't harm the middle class. As a conservative middle class person, I do not want or need government handouts for anything. The only thing I want for Christmas is the government meddling less in my life.

The Obama/Biden era wasn't a good season for the working and middle class, and Biden seems to be a bit dumber, both Obama and Biden of 5 years ago.

VOTERS SEEM TO HAVE A GOOD SENSE OF WHAT THE BIDEN ERA IS LIKELY TO BE LIKE: Consumer Spending Update: Economic Confidence Continues Post-Election Decline.

The Rasmussen Reports Economic Index dropped by three points this month, the second consecutive monthly decline since Joe Biden was elected President. The index fell to 111.5 from 114.5 in December, continuing the decline from 126.4 just before Election Day...

Enthusiasm about the economy started to grow immediately following Donald Trump’s election as president in November 2016 and had jumped to 147.8 by January 2020. Then it began its steep decline last February as the coronavirus lockdown threw Americans out of work and closed many businesses. Enthusiasm started working its way up again last summer and fall, but the past two months mark a significant drop. By comparison, in President Obama’s final years in office, this index reached a high of 121.5 in January 2015 and was at 108.1 his last month in the White House.

I think the impact to the supermarkets will be more long term. When the stores go fully on line there will be no need for wide isles or fancy advertising. I see them more like changing form Simpatico to an Amazon warehouse.
Your savings idea is correct, I think. It's one of the reasons I don't like sending checks to people that won't spend it. Send the money to people that can't work because of the pandemic. They will spend it.
My wife & I didn't need it so I only today bought here a new tablet. But even then it will not be manufactured in my country. But I did buy it from an American company.
I like green "stuff" because I think there is a need for it. I would be okay subsidizing some new green research and development.
So there should be some jobs for more robots if we can take them from the Chinese. :)

And, on the OP, your argument regarding that topic was.... what, exactly? You demand that people refer to your "argument", but looks like I'm unable to find any.

    Care to elucidate?

On the other hand, I myself did write some arguments. Basically saving this thread from going down the road to oblivion (i.e. the second page of the Forum). Hoping maybe you had something of substance to contribute to it. Was bumping the thread a mistake on my part?

That's a little vague. How about an example.

I guess you would. But I bet if you really tried you could think of a better place to spend the money.

What social media laws are to talking about?

    No COVID no lockdowns.

    c/o the Trump Whitehouse.

I also trust Biden. I was never comfortable with Trump as president. He was the first president in my lifetime I was uncomfortable with. I was born right after WWII, so that covers quite a lot of presidents.

Then there's relations and dealings with other countries where some things are best kept behind closed doors. Also things that you don't want other countries to know about. There's a fine line here, a good president knows not to cross the line. Too much secrecy brings on distrust, but being too open can have dire consequences for the country. It all depends on what it is.

Biden may in fact be the first POTUS who is a lame duck from the moment he is "inaugurated." Stay tuned.

China is among the few countries that in 2020 have seen their GDP growing [With India and some others]. Also this is an effect of the economical crisis we are living:
when there is less money around, people tend to buy cheaper shoes, cheaper cloths, cheaper glasses ... in a few words they prefer "made in India" and "made in China" because they want to spend less.

We could say that Obama could have thought [I've already won the Nobel Peace Prize ... so now I can run all the wars I want ...].
    This was presidential satire ...

Humor aside, it's more about isolationism. It was known that Trump was going to leave the world to its destiny thinking first of all to America.
And about this point, I remember a recent interview of Biden [to Stephen Colbert] when he said that American was coming back ... I expect a bit of interventionism ...

Is that the new term for getting into wars for other than the defense of the United States?

Does "Intervention" = Break sh*t and kill people?

When you have convinced half the country that Biden cheated and stole the election, you have sabotaged any chance Biden can persuade that half of the country to come to the table and sincerely negotiate with the man who did the stealing.

You guys did a very good job of screwing the country out of any efforts to compromise towards any real reform based on bipartisanship. I have almost no expectations of this President that he has not already accomplished, namely the removal of the cancerous tumor in the brain of Washington. Anything more is gravy.

I don't like obstructionism for the sake of it - support good policy and oppose bad policy.

That said, it's a good trump card to have (pun unintended).

Not that they can obstruct anything. It's all down to Joe Manchin. If he caves on the filibuster all is over.

Fake News. When you cover the windows of the counting rooms, caged and trick the GOP observers into leaving and then have late night ballot dumps of ballots going 95-5 Biden in enough numbers to reverse the lead in a race that is otherwise coming in 50/50 it is YOU FOLKS who eroded trust in the election results.

We need reform that accomplishes three things
    1. All legal voters may vote, ONCE.
    2. Ballot security and chain of custody is as secure as bank deposits.
    3. Counting tables as secured as dealer tables in a casino with continuous counting until finished.
There is no way that Medicare for All or the Green New Deal makes it through a 50/50 Senate. That’s going to leave some of the most socialist members like Sanders and Warren fuming. They will start turning the screws on some other bills that might have a shot at gaining at least a small amount of bipartisan support.

As 2021 wears on, Schumer’s worst problems will be coming from his own side of the aisle, not the GOP.

It was the Dems that made the last 4 years insane, and they haven't changed.

He’s already delivered his most important accomplishment, beating trump and saving our country from 4 more years of his incompetence.
On the rest, he is a decent man who will do the best he can, which is something no one would ever say about trump.
