President Biden has issued an order that all federal workers have to be vaccinated or they will lose their jobs.

But at the same time federal workers are not being required to wear masks indoors.
(mask wearing will only be required in certain parts of the country with high infection rates)

What does this tell us? Does the Biden Administration really care about trying to stop the disease, or is this more about forcing people to "get with the program"?
"What works for me should work for you"?

For a short time there was an exemption where federal workers could get weekly testing as an alternative to being required to be vaccinated, but this exemption was eliminated last week:
    https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2021/09/09...ers-removes-option-to-get-tested-instead.html

The actual studies seem to suggest that the vaccine is only moderately effective.
Covid hospital patients, for example, are actually statistically more likely to die if they had received the vaccine. There are several areas in the world where more than half the Covid hospital patients were vaccinated. In the UK, 40% of Covid hospital patients were vaccinated.
Numerous studies have suggested the vaccine might not be that great at preventing the spread of the virus, and rather its major benefit is in reducing how sick an individual gets if infected. Some believe masks are more effective at stopping the spread of the virus than the vaccine.

Is forcing all federal workers to be injected with the vaccine really justified?

I happen to find this new requirement to be outrageous. One single elected official should not be able to have the power to require this.

The fact these workers are not even being required to wear masks illustrates the hypocrisy.

I notice you didn't link anything to back up your ridiculous claim that Hospital patients are dying at a higher rate than unvaccinated patients. I wonder why that is?

Just to point out , this is how it works. They start forcing small segments of society to do something incrementally at a time. Since only a small number of people are being affected at any given time, it reduces the level of opposition.
Most people think "Why should I really care? It's only affecting a small percentage of people. It's not affecting me right now.
They will implement the restrictions in phases.

It's like boiling a live crab in water. If you just throw the crab into a pot of hot water, it will immediately jump out. But if you slowly increase the temperature the crab will not notice it is being cooked until it is too late. That quote from Martin Niemoller comes to mind.

No problem forcing the smaller minority to have to take on the individual personal decision of vaccination like everyone else, but that majority can't be bothered to be inconvenienced with masks.
    Tells us everything.

This is the first vaccine mandate I have supported, the firing of any bureaucrat is a cause to celebrate.

Biden wants us to get vaxxed -- maybe it's because thousands of sick illegals are welcomed by Biden into the USA . . .
    ---
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas says about 1-in-5 border crossers arriving at the United States-Mexico border are sick with illnesses.
During remarks at Georgetown University this week, Mayorkas revealed the extent to which federal immigration officials are encountering sick border crossers who are carrying viruses and diseases.

The evidence is building: Vaccine mandates work — and well

But when such vaccine mandates were considered and announced — and even up through today after President Biden announced a vaccine-or-testing mandate for large employers — much of the pushback from the anti-mandate crowd has been an argument that these measures would “harden” opposition to vaccines.

“It is contrary to getting the vaccines out,” Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R) said this month of Biden’s announcement. “It will harden the hesitancy out there, and it’s not the right time. It’s not the right message.”

“Vaccine hesitancy is complicated, and overreaching government mandates can make people even more hesitant to get the vaccine,” a spokeswoman for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) said last week.

That might indeed be true! It might make people resent being forced to do something they don’t want to or hadn’t yet decided to do. But the evidence also increasingly suggests that it spurs that vast majority of the resistant ultimately to comply, hard feelings or not.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/09/29/evidence-is-building-vaccine-mandates-work-well/

I wish you could all read the entire article. It gives a number of examples of employee compliance with vaccine mandates to the point where some company's vaccination rate is above 95% or higher. It's exactly the direction we need to go in.

    ....................................................................................................................................................
Then there's Ron DeSantis ridiculously comparing Australia to China with respect to freedom due to COVID protocols in order to appease his moronic base. Australia, with a similar population to FL, having had 1,256 COVID deaths compared to FL's 54,067. Great work Ron.

--President Joe Biden didn’t just announce a Covid-19 vaccine mandate on companies employing 100 or more people, he plans to enforce it.
--On Saturday, Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s House quietly tucked an enforcement mechanism into their $3.5 trillion “reconciliation” bill, passed it out of the Budget Committee, and sent it to the House floor.
--Buried on page 168 of the House Democrats’ 2,465-page mega bill is a tenfold increase in fines for employers that “willfully,” “repeatedly,” or even seriously violate a section of labor law that deals with hazards, death, or serious physical harm to their employees.
--The increased fines on employers could run as high as $70,000 for serious infractions, and $700,000 for willful or repeated violations—almost three-quarters of a million dollars for each fine. If enacted into law, vax enforcement could bankrupt non-compliant companies even more quickly than the $14,000 OSHA fine anticipated under Biden’s announced mandate.

Makes for some compelling jingoism but the only kinds of people who accept such baloney also thought Mexico was going to pay for the wall.

What's sad to see is pro-COVID Repubs upset at the data showing mandates are resulting in higher vaccination rates.

I don't understand the authorities who say the un-vaxxed need to get vaxxed to protect those already vaxxed. Say that again! Even Biden said the un-vaxxed were a danger to the vaxxed. Duh. Either the vax works or it doesn't. You want a vax, get it. You have a reason not to get the vax, don't get it. You want to wear a mask or you don't want to wear a mask is OK with me. Put out all the info and let everyone make their own decision. Just like cigarettes, those cancer sticks as we called them in high school back in the 50's. Even back then my best friend made a bad decision regarding cigarettes. He paid with his life -- lung cancer.

Thanks to Trump we got the vaccine 2 years (at least) ahead of time… think about it.. the vaccines would still not be approved yet if not for warp speed.. Thank you Mr. Trump.
