Yes. They did. And then you smeared and slammed them and the left for what Biden is trying to do. Did you ever think about the difference of now vs. 30 years ago? People used to pay an affordable cost for college and pay off any loan in 10 years with affordable payments. Did you ever think about what today's situation does to the public's interest in higher education? The nation is being "dumbed down" by discouraging education. Do you think that's good? Yep, that's a problem too. Wages are THE ONE THING that "trickles" but it trickles UP. Keep the minimum wage low and paychecks above that remain sluggish until you get to the wages of the upper middle class. Nah! They just add to the national debt with new money expenditures. Were you OK with adding to the national debt when Trump boosted it by $7 trillion? No, as you can see your smearing and slamming is in vain because my reply to you was based on logic and the national good. I think you may be jealous because, like me and most of us, you're not in line to receive handouts.
Same with me in 1966 and again in 1972, but I attended a local state college 20 minutes from home. Biden's forgiveness of student loans doesn't bother me. I see it as good for the country (see my post #26 directly beneath yours). And who put income tax on our S.S. check? REAGAN! It's pretty dumb to collect payroll taxes to give back to the person in retirement and then take some of it back to fund costs for society and the rich. That tax is actually just a way of cutting S.S. payments in a very sneaky way.
And you thought about what the current system is doing. If the government continues to pay off the loans, colleges will note that and raise their fees even higher. It's time to make colleges more responsible for their high tuitions. Perhaps if part of the default costs were charged to them, they would control their expenses or their greed. The Democrats are now talking about "greedy corporations which are causing inflation." Colleges are just as greedy.
Good patriotic citizens "whine" where they think it's approximate. Makes a good republic. You do remember how we "whined" to the British about our taxes and that led to the Boston Tea Party and later our independence. A bunch of "whiners" made this great USA.
lol…good patriotic citizens don’t demonize half their countrymen with dishonest partisan whines and prefer to work together to solve our national problems.
Wonderful. So all of us who don't have student debt? Oh yes we do. Now we do, don't we? Thank you Brandon. I will remember this when it's time to vote for president.
My friend For Biden to beat Trump, he will have to stay in the basement and continue to use tax payer money to pay for going after Trump.. you are paying for that also. Trump has to use his own money...
We all will, as well as remembering that trump tried to overturn the election he lost. It’s a no-brainer if you care about your country and have your priorities straight.
I care about my country and gave up 6 years to serve. Now I would like Biden to stop all the illegals invading our country via the southern border. This is a disaster that will end in worse disaster. All brought about by Joe Biden.
obviously a pitiful attempt to buy votes. Dems are the big pushers for college degrees being the ticket to higher incomes; so let's pay of THERE DEBT from the taxes of lower wage earners.
Yeah, just think ... if a DEMOCRAT does anything for the people, he's "buying votes". But did Trump do anything for the people? Was he "buying votes"? IOW you've got it all figured out, dontchya?
Forgiving $7.4 billion in student loans? No vote buying there, huh? Trump lowered tax rates a bit - and tax revenue increased. See the difference?
No, you have it backwards. Government is interfering with private enterprise because it is loaning a seemingly unlimited amount of money to it. That “private enterprise” is responding by raising prices to unaffordable levels because the students are regarding it as “Monopoly money.” The “Monopoly money” perception is fulfilled when the government forgives the loans. This can happen to any private enterprise industry which receives government subsidies. The government needs to find ways to get colleges off their high fees addiction which has been created by the unlimited student loan policy.
OH YEAH! I SEE THE DIFFERENCE!!! Biden is trying to boost the economy by removing some of the burden on people who should never have had the burden dumped on them. $7.4 billion? That is just about 1/1000 of the over $7 TRILLION Trump added to the national debt with his gifts to the RICH! And you want to minimize Trump's damage while exaggerating Biden's help. WOW
As a the Blue state pay the most taxes. I have no problem paying off student debt off for student in blue state and also in Red state. Red state republican has nothing to worry. They are not paying anything. Or are they concern if we the DEMS pay student debt , the red state republican will have less of DEMS money to buy Food stamps?
Well there concern is if Federal Gov pay for student debt , Fed Gov might ran out of money and they can’t keep the state running Here are top 10 state which depend on federal aid to keep local government running 8 out of to 10 are RED states.
