So the first and most important Presidential debate (domestic politics) is tonight at 8:00 p.m. Central Time. I found this very interesting article from a very intelligent British newspaper The Independent about the debate and what to look for.

If Republicans are correct, Obama is going to slip and let his arrogance show through in a "bad optics" moment. If Democrats are correct, Romney is going to sound less conservative (the RINO label) and still come across as the candidate of the 5%. The polls are so close that this could be THE defining moment of the race.

The most interesting point I saw is that Barack's debating skills are rusty. He really hasn't formally debated in 4 years while Romney went through a battery of debates on the Republican nomination campaign trail. Prep may knock some of that rust off but Obama is got to be resenting the way he has been treated the last 4 years (he's not really a gay black muslim communist born abroad) and that bitter edge may come out.

I will watch it on Cspan so I can get my own take on the debate without some talking head trying to set a narrative.
