Bill Maher: Why Aren't Major Black Celebrities Asking Why Black People Are Killing Each Other In Cities Like Chicago? | Video | RealClearPolitics

I've been asking this for a long time. It's not just major black celebrities who need to be called out for their silence, but ALL black people, especially those who are from Chicago and held the highest office in the United States. Some might call him a black celebrity, a rock star. So, where is Barack Obama? Why is he so silent on Blacks killing other Blacks in Chicago and other cities like it?

"HBO host Bill Maher on Friday said Chicago Mayor-elect Brandon Johnson was "excusing horrific behavior" in a speech he delivered following several shootings in Chicagoland last week and questioned why black celebrities with large fanbases do not have opinions on these issues.

"Most of the shootings [in Chicago] are young black men killing other young black men. Is that not correct?" Maher asked.
"Yeah that's correct," guest Glenn Loury responded.
"Okay, much more than what the cops do. Why doesn't anybody talk about that? Why aren't there a hundred giant black celebrities who would have the respect of those people saying what are you doing to yourselves? Why are you killing each other?" Maher asked.
"It dishonors our community. Come on, we're better than this," Loury said.
"Right," Maher responded. "It's never addressed."

"What I would want to observe is any structural move that you want to make requires a majority of people to get behind it, requires Democratic politics to get behind it," Loury said. "In order to get a majority of the voters in Chicago or any place else to get behind anything that is going to cost them they have to feel safe. They have to feel that the people in charge are on their side. And that's why Mayor-elect Brandon Johnson needs to come and give speeches saying this is contemptible behavior, we won't tolerate it in our city. The reason why we have cops is precisely in order to stop this from happening and if you do it on my watch you're going to go to jail."

"One in three children in America can not read at a basic level of comprehension. 85% of black students lack proficiency in reading skills. We already spent a lot of money on schools. So are you going to keep telling me that more money will fix this because I feel like this is much more connected to the problems of people who can't read. Yes, they're going to have problems with gainful employment and it seems like, you know, a lot of times the solutions that come from the left seem symbolic. They don't seem like we're addressing what really needs to be done which is get kids learning, get them reading, get them to have a job," Maher said.
"It doesn't seem like the money is getting to this problem if 85% of black students lack proficiency in reading skills," he said."

 

If I wanted to keep an entire racial demographic a hilarious combination of dead, dumb and angry, I’d do things exactly as Democrats have done with their former slaves.

Hell, slaves never paid their masters. Nor could they vote for them. Nor would they so
willingly take to the streets to fight their dirty battles for them.

Democrats have it better than any slave owners ever had! They even stay in their segregated hellholes of their own volition without expensive chains or padlocks. Dead slaveowners are turning over in their graves with jealousy!

 

Why is any of that up to black celebrities? And why is anyone under the impression that no one talks about it?

 

I saw a really great interview with Denzell Washington once and he said something along the lines of "if they don't have a father in the home, they'll find one in the streets".
I think he might be onto something.

 

Celebrities arent all that different from politicians. Both careers are primarily dependent on the free advertizing provided by mainstream media. MSM will 'cancel' anyone who takes up an oppositional narrative. So famous celebrities don't take up any narratives in opposition to those the MSM is pushing. Currently, black people are the victims of racism by white people and a lack of suitably draconian gun laws. Or, those are the narratives that the media supports famous celebrities for complying with.

There are a handful of famous black people who will go off-script and talk about stuff like this, but it always ends up being during the same time or after their careers wind down. Funny, that...

 

I have been in several discussions about it and when I mention it, I am sometimes called racist.

 

They sure as hell have an opinion about the handful that are killed by police but they're completely silent when scores more are killing each other

 

Black lives matter sure doesn't seem to care.
It's only important to them when the police do The killing. They ought to be renamed....

If you’re concerned about the thousands of black murder victims then you should listen to my speeches about how the black community has been victimized by systemic racism, white privilege, white supremacy and white nationalism, all which form the fundamental and indisputable root cause for those thousands of blacks who were victimized in a most horrible way.

If you’re concern is about the blacks who committed those thousands of murders, then by trying to point out that blacks might actually murder people, you’re most likely a privileged white supremacist who was born and raised to demean marginalized and underrepresented people.

Just saying, I see this an awful lot with everyone telling black people or black celebrities in this case, what they should do. Hence, why I suggested you or someone else here go do it since you love to bring it up.

 

How about this; instead of pushing all this equity nonsense on us, how about is Biden and Harris tell blacks to specifically stop killing each other via abortions or drive bys, after all, that is their voting block.

Nope. Pay attention to the thread premise. We are asking Black celebrities WHY Blacks are killing each other in cities like Chicago. It's quite possible that if we learn WHY they are killing one another, society can be proactive in stopping it.

If a white person asks why we get stopped in our tracks and called a racist.
