    Yes especially through the prism of today, but not when the White House and lots of other federal buildings were being built. It was an accepted practice brought here by the Europeans.

    Ironic how progressives (its a lie, you're actually regressives) cannot let go of the wrongs committed by their own party a hundred and fifty years ago, but are ignorant to the wrongs your party commits today. You could step in dogdoo and not realize it.

    Indeed. Slavery in the Southern Confederate States ended with the Emancipation Proclamation. But that did not free a single slave of the Union/Northern states. It took ratification of the 13th Amendment to finally free the remaining Union held slaves. This was well after the War was over, and Lincoln was already terminated for his war crimes against the South.

    because they were a theocracy and the bible ok'd it.. .America evolved sense then

    I still do not think saying they were well fed was something I would find appropriate to say about slaves

    be like saying sex slaves at least were well fed and had a bed to lay on

    Hard to believe that I'm defending Michelle Obama, but I listened to the speech. I took it as what an amazing place this is, that a descendant of slaves could be living in this house built by slaves. I heard it as the opposite. I'm not an Obama fan at all (I voted against him twice), but this is a stupid attack, and is based on people hearing what they want to hear, instead of what was said.
