    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/w...harassment-allegations-new-york-a8197626.html

    Reasons sited by his school:

    1. He was fired by Fox, so it must be true (they were coerced, a well known fact).
    2. He paid a settlement so they would leave Fox alone if he went back on air (time is money).

In the US, the burden of proof is on the party seeking money even in cases of libel. You can destroy someone with allegations, but they must prove the allegations are false in order to collect money. Since Bill Oreilly was bringing in $500 million dollars per year for Fox, paying people to go away seemed cheaper than losing that. Just a possibility. That and not wanting a year long court case. Thoughts?

The school is entitled to do whatever it wants, for whatever reason it wants. Or without any reason at all.

Even if you are literally Hitler, how does that suddenly make you unqualified in your chosen degree? Unless that degree was ethnic studies or something.

Just goes to show that the "higher educational system" is not objective but in the tank for leftist sentiments. Those "degrees" do not mean squat anyway.

    Was it an honorary degree?

    1. I absolutely agree that a settlement offer, whether accepted or not, is evidence of nothing with respect to his guilt. 2. the school's rationale is subpar. 3. This was an honorary degree that they can taketh away, as quickly as they giveth. OReilly did not do the work to earn this degree, so its a case of easy come, easy go.

Think about it a second. Mr Obatard received a degree in constitutional law! Yet he was the dumbest constitutionalist ever to occupy office! Clearly a degree today doesn't carry the clout they did in yesteryear, and same goes for the peace prize also!

It seems these type of achievements can be had with a good printer and a appropriate website :)

The OP didn't use the title of the article - hence why we have the rule people don't follow half the time - but it was an HONORARY degree, so Marist yanked it.

I agree since the degree was honorary. If Oreilly had earned a real degree from the college then that would be another matter entirely.

He'll do as Mr. Obatard did, only Bill will by his own where Barry got his from Taxpayers and affirmative action :)

Unquestionably not the worst, but point taken.

LMAO...It was an honorary degree. Oreilly did squat to earn it and he isn't really qualified for anything so there is nothing for him to lose but face.

Well, if the school feels like he did...then they have the absolute right. I think the school can give and take away at whim.

Fair enough. Still seems silly to me.

Then again, honorary degrees seem silly to me in the first place.

America in 2018: where allegations of witchcraft, er ... I mean harassment, will destroy your life.
