Eleven years after letting Jeffrey Epstein off lightly with a once-secret plea deal, the U.S. government is taking another run at putting the wealthy sex offender behind bars with new sex-trafficking charges that law enforcement officials say involve allegations dating to the early 2000s.

Epstein, arrested over the weekend, is expected to make his first court appearance on the new charges Monday in New York City. Prosecutors are likely to argue that he is a flight risk and should remain in jail instead of being released on bail pending trial.

Most have heard about Jeffrey Epstein but for those who haven't, he was charged in a federal court 12 years ago on charges of sex trafficking in Palm Beach. The billionaire hedge fund mogul, is charged with using his vast network of contacts and associates to bring a constant stream of underage girls to his Manhattan townhouse. He is accused of shuttling the girls between the townhouse and his home in Palm Beach, Fla., paying them in cash and urging them to recruit other underage girls to visit his home.

Here's where this gets sickeningly ugly. Epstein has long been connected with high-profile figures, including Britain's Prince Andrew and Bill Clinton. Court documents showed that Clinton took at least 26 trips flying aboard Epstein's private jet, known as the "Lolita Express," and apparently ditched his Secret Service detail on some of the excursions. Records showed that Trump may have flown on the jet at least once. Epstein got a 'sweetheart plea deal' in 2008 from current Secretary of Labor Alex Acosta. At that time, Acosta was the Attorney General of Florida.

Even I, who detests Trump, really don't want to find out that these men, and other 'prominent public figures' (as quoted in a news story) have been directly involved or at least complicit in their silence to child sex trafficking. This feels like a onion about to be peeled revealing a rotten apple at the core.

 

It’s gonna go deep I presume. I expect a connection to young Haitian girls, NEXIVM, and sex trafficking across our southern border in New Mexico.

I think there's many rich, old white guys in the US that have paid for young girls from Mexico but from what I've seen of the women that have surrounded Jeffrey Epstein, they are -- as far as photographs show -- attractive young white women.

I'd bet my life that there's more than one prominent government official who is absolutely sweating bullets today. Who knows what was seized in his Manhattan mansion? If there's any type of list or 'little black book' of names of women or a clientele list, this just may be the biggest global scandal of the century.

GMA mentioned this morning that former presidents traveled with Epstein. There's only one I know about who traveled to Fantasy Island with Epstein.

I agree. I don't give a damn whether they're a republican or democrat, whether they're a senator, ex-president or bartender. This case warrants national attention calling for the prosecution and conviction of any man who takes part in sex trafficking. Our society chooses to turn a blind eye to rumors of high powered, financially wealthy men buying under age sex slaves. It's disgusting.

Would this have happened if a woman was president, or if a woman was the AG of the Southern District of Florida? Maybe so, but it's very doubtful in my opinion.
