And having served in the US Army myself, as far back as 1964, I well remember the Vietnam war and the British involvement in it. During the period of US involvement, Britain provided some support. They built the American Air bases in Thailand. Special Forces were also involved on active service. The most highly decorated "American" in the Vietnam War was British. Units were sent from Britain to Fort Dix. At Fort Dix they "resigned from the British Army, and re-enlisted in the US Army". After completing their tour in Vietnam, the returning "GI's" were discharged from US Forces, and re-enlisted in the British Army on their return to the UK. This allowed Harold Wilson, (the British Prime Minister), to stand up in Parliament and announce "No British Troops are in Vietnam". Twenty two British Servicemen were killed in action in Vietnam.

There were about 31,000 less Americans killed by guns here than there were in America.

There were 640 murders in the UK in 2012 but no British people were murdered here.

Sounds pretty safe.

Of course, that doesn't mean Indonesia is free from bloody idiots; it clearly isn't as the Bali bombs prove but the vast majority of Indonesians welcome foreigners and treat them with respect and kindness.
In six years here, I've met four of five Indonesians I didn't like or who were unpleasant in some way. That's pretty good when you consider I go to the worst places in the country in order to indulge my photography hobby.

But it IS news in the Zimmerman case. And news, and news, and more news. But not when it's black on white.

 

Zimmerman, a drug and alcohol abuser with a history of domestic violence and assaulting a police officer, was allowed to own a handgun and, true to his violent nature, used it to kill an unarmed man (Possibly in revenge for a fight he was too much of a coward to continue with).
I believe this case was picked up because of the debate surrounding firearms ownership and their misuse by violent thugs who shouldn't have one but legally own one.

Let's have a look at the fighters.

This massive kid was the murder victim. As you can see; he's built like a brick (*)(*)(*)(*)house and looks very strong.



But Zimmerman, a quiet family man, is a small guy with no change against such a big attacker.

I don't see your refute too clearly. You're saying the Zimmerman case got publicity because of gun laws ? Maybe that's true in a small part. It mainly got publicity because the race factor, including civil rights type marches, and lots of big mouth black activists (Sharpton, Jackson, Panthers, etc) shooting their mouths off.
