I dunno if that really floats. That would make northeastern Russia part of North America, technically, and I dont think anyone has ever tried to make that official. That is to say, I dont think plate formation is the only basis used to define these sorts of things.

You're referring to the bering straight. I'm not sure if it physically connects the two geo political continents nowadays, it used to, a million years ago. However, Israel and Africa were connected only until recently, with the man made Suez canal (built by europeans) physically removing Israel from its motherland. That's not the same of natural evolution, as is the case with the bering straight.
