The Rhodes Scholarship program has become an indoctrination program.

I've heard of the book "Mississippi Mud" but never read it.
I've noticed over the years it's heavily quoted.

The Democratic party stopped awarding KKK scholarships back during the late 1970's.

People who supported the KKK like Trent Lott moved from one party to the other.

Once the Republicans got the CRA and VRA passed they no longer needed the Democrats to support them and give home to their segregation and oppression of blacks. It was over.

But the fact is there was no mass move of the segregationist Democrats to the Republican party, they stayed in the Democrat party in their leadership roles and got reelected until they all died out.

Sorry can you try to make so sense here? He did grow up during segregation, which wasn't limited to the South, and I'm sure he encounter racist.

What does that have to do with anything?

The reason I am confused is because you say Bill Clinton’s father got him the Rhodes Scholarship because of his connections.
Bill Clinton’s father was a traveling salesman who died when Bill Clinton was four months old. Now do you see why I was confused? Did he come back from the dead

Sorry, his step-father who raised him as his father.

Should have caught it since he once told my grandmother there were only two men in his life he ever feared and that was my grandfather and his step-father.

These are redneck goodfellas, just a whopper of a tale. I grew up in the area and went to some of the clubs they ran there in Biloxi. If you were 16 years old you could go and they'd let you in. When I was a kid my parents would take us to The Friendship House in Biloxi which was a great seafood restaurant with gambling in the back.

Wasn't the Dixie Mafia in control of the cocaine trafficking and distribution in the South during the 70's and 80's ?

That was more the Bandidos as I remember but involved both. The Dixie Mafia was about women, liquor and gambling.

Yes it always works for a year or two. But the bill always comes due and the ever increasing national debt is the creation of the Republicans. Why are Republicans always too stupid to notice that their economic policies make the rich richer, the national debt bigger, and income disparity greater.

It worked fine until the Democrats took control of budget and fiscal policy and they were smart enough to see that their policies produce growth like we are seeing today, it's happening today, it happen under Bush/Republicans and it worked under Clinton/Republicans. The key is Republican policies.

Tax revenue went up faster I believed in the Clinton than Reagan period (the former had tax increases). These initiatives failed entirely in WI, KS, and LA in the last decade.

Both conservatives and liberals overstate the impact of taxes. They are only one of many things that influence the economy and not the most powerful. Investing increased taxes in R & D and education would do more to boost the economy than tax cuts.

So his drunken abusive car salesman stepfather got him the Rhodes scholarship. You can’t really believe that. Why don’t you give Clinton at least credit for excelling in school while he had this horrible step father raising him. Not you, you diminish Bill Clinton and elevate an abusive man

I absolutely believe because it was true. It was connections to the racist segregationist Fulbright who was his mentor and wasn't the only time he had help out young Clinton.

Bill Clinton slowed a strong tax revenue growth curve with his tax rate increase, from 9% and rising down to 7%. It was the Republican Gingrich/Kasich tax rate cuts that turned that around and it hit double digits and with other Republican policies produced the surpluses. And of course the Bush43 tax rate cuts helped produced and even higher tax revenue growth hitting a record 15% in 2007. And education and R&D are LONG term the immediate results of tax rate cuts have been shown the twice before and even now.

The swamp from both sides of the aisle loves taxes. Trump is trying to teach them they are wrong.

He was also against McCarthyism etc....what happened to his stepfather? What did he have to with it? Oh I know, he sold him a car and they got drunk together. What is so sad is that you can’t give Bill Clinton credit for being an outstanding scholar and if he really wanted to use his connections he would’ve gotten a Fulbright scholarship

He was connected with the Hot Springs mafia. Tell me what were his grades at Oxford. Clinton and his wife's entire careers have been based on connections not accomplishments.

I don’t believe he got a degree from oxford.he got Into Yale law school, one of the most competitive law schools so he must have had impressive grades and lsat Or do you think his car salesman step dad got him there also? And Clinton really isn’t smart. All secret conspiracies
Fulbright was a huge opponent of the Vietnam war and so was Clinton...and millions of others
