You aren't getting through a gate in all black with multiple weapons including rifle(s).

After 9/11 it all changed. Before that, when I was at Ft Monmouth, NJ, the base was open, no perimeter security. Now anyone trying to get on base, needs to be registered with JPAS.
    http://www.dss.mil/diss/jpas/jpas.html

Stationed personnel bases may have different rules for family members, not sure, but I haven't traveled to those types of bases in 8 yrs, Ft. Gordon and Ft Hood. Ft Hood, all visitors had to register at the visitors center, and one needed their clearance to get on base. Ft Gordon, security used mirrors under the car to check, all had to step out, open all doors and trunks.

So men, with rifles and ammo easily walking onto that navel shipyard is a stretch.

I will ask you again what do you think happened then? You act as if they couldnt have gotten on the base. Its a gun free zone its not like you can just go to work and carry.

Well if they have an access card, then they can get on. Then it is an insider. That would be the most likely scenario.

Sorry I didn't get to you sooner.

It is very unlikely it would be from somone outside without direct access.

So... you think that our nations oldest navy yard, IN DC... housing... a whole (*)(*)(*)(*) load of stuff... you can just enter with a key card?

Its all speculation now, so I guess we'll see. Often times the simplest explanations are correct, if there was some dramatic infiltration I'd be surprised. Chances are we won't find out the real truth in any case...

FYI, it is called Common Access Card.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_Access_Card

Some bases require vehicle registration with decals, others don't.

I have the decal on my windshield of my car that allows me to be waived though at the gate to get on base. Most of the time I stop and hand them my Military I.D. card.

You don't need to be an insider to get a hold of ID's or make copies that look real. The printer copiers today are amazing at duplicating just about anything. But it does sound like this is somebody who had access.

A witness who works in the building where the shooting happened just said on CNN that people could not get inside the building without scanning their security card.

It is not easy to duplicate.

The CAC is said to be resistant to identity fraud,[3] tampering, counterfeiting, and exploitation and provides an electronic means of rapid authentication.

I'm sure you'd be saying the same thing if leftists were blaming a lone wolf right winger white guy, had he been the shooter.

It's human nature, we want to know, since we don't we speculate, everyone does it to some degree. Its a byproduct of the 24/7 media cycle, tidbits of information emerge and people simply try to piece all together themselves until more information is available. :)

That leads me to believe even more it was someone or some people that already had some type of access to the base.

    - - - Updated - - -

Anything is possible, but unless they are kidnapping the person with the access, the photo might give it away. Hey, anything is possible but reaching for possibilities is endless. Let's stick with the most probable.

A few cops were shot and/or killed. Now that we know the perps are black, we may get a few supportive comments from the left, similar to how they reacted to the Christopher Dorhner killings.

Yes, to normal people, the type of the gun is CRITICAL. The threat from a shotgun is very different than the threat from an assault rifle or from a true long gun.

But apparently, the race of the shooter (which often is reported in quite conflicting ways in te middle of an emergency) is the only IMPORTANT information for those who have an agenda.

Lemme give you a clue! The person you need to look for in this case is the GUY WITH A GUN!
