    The shooter and his brother were adopted by an older couple......the father died years ago and the 68 year old mother died a few months ago. Apparently, the kid had been trouble for years......shooting at the neighbor's pets, stealing stuff......just a mentally ill misfit that finally broke......sad story.

    Gun control is idiocy. Everytime there is one of these shootings we start hearing the same thing about how the shooter was antisocial or exhibited bizarre behavior. School is a place where kids go everyday so where were the teachers and school counsellors? Did they not notice this kid's behavior? Why don't school faculty get more involved when they see someone exhibiting these types of behaviors?

    The USA needs to build a special prison just for mass shooters and serial killers. Dank, dark, and damp cold in winter, hottern hell in summer, no entertainment or visitors. Something that would make the Île du Diable seem like the Waldorf Astoria in comparison.

    Very true, a sad story. Even sadder is the fact that there were all the indicators and nothing was done. Now 17 kids are dead. Would seem there is more than enough blame to go around. Just like Adam Lanza, there were all kinds of warning signs and little or nothing was done. After the killing the easy thing seems to be to blame the guns. That is easier than blaming our health care system and the state of mental health treatment in this country.

    No its not practical.

    Can we round up 300-400+ million guns in America that can be hidden and aren't always registered?

    Yes, we can and should do that.
