Certain posters keep saying President Barack Obama's records from Harvard University are irrelevant or that they are no big deal. Of course they are relevant and of course it's a big deal. It is relevant to know what courses he took while at Harvard since those courses, along with his past associations with people like William Ayers, Jeremiah Wright and Bernadette Dorne seem to have molded him into an avowed socialist. No other president, or even presidential candidate has been so intent on keeping everything about his life secret.

Rather than agreeing that President Barack Obama should stop doing everything in his power to keep from being fully vetted, the liberals should be saying, "Our man has nothing to hide so we agree he should stop hiding everything."

Despite what people like Snakestretcher say, it is our business. President Barack Obama is a public servant, not an imperial leader and as a public servant he should make his past life public. We are not asking to look in his bedroom or anything personal. We are simply asking that he reveal his college records. No one spends a fifth of a million dollars in an attempt to keep the public, the very public he is leader of, from knowing what he did in college unless there is a reason.

Now only an idiot would conclude that is what I said. I said that anyone who felt that they needed to know about Obama- or Romney or Perry's college records in order to be able to decide whether to vote for them is an idiot. And its true- if you can't judge Obama based upon his record as President, or Romney based upon his record as Governor and businessman, or Perry based upon his record as Governor, but instead feel a need to look at grades from 20 or 30 years ago- you are an idiot.

How wonderfully Birther disingenuity. As I pointed out of course these are not fair questions. These are questions you only ask about for Obama, and you don't ask or demand from any other candidate.

You only know Bush's grades because they were illegally leaked. And of course his political opponents used his grades against them. And you also know that Bush never provided the laundry list of information that you demand from Obama.

Rick Perry's grades were leaked illegally- and of course used against him. And you also know that Perry never released any of his college information, and never provided the laundry list of information that you demand from Obama.

And Romney? You neither care, nor demand any information from Romney- just like you didn't for McCain, or any previous President.

Fair- this is Birther 'fair'- demand a completely set of information from Obama than from any previous or current candidate. This is fair like 'seperate but equal' schools were during segregation.

And if Romney got in on a Foreign Student Status- then he committed fraud. And if Bush got in on a Foreign Student status he committed fraud. Yet oddly, you do not, and have not made the same innuendo against any other candidate.

The difference between you and I is that I hold all the candidates to the same standards. No candidate has ever shown the information you are demanding that Obama- and only Obama provide.

So don't cast your vote for Obama.

If you don't think that Obama has been vetted sufficiently to your satisfaction, don't vote for him. Heck contribute money to Romney's campaign.

Just don't pretend that your 'fair questions' have anything to do with 'fair' or any possibility of influencing your vote.

Neither Romney or Obama want to release their college records. The only ones who want to see them are their political opponents. Both are hoping that it will remain an issue that voters (thankfully) are not basing their votes upon.

    Birthers lol....http://hawaii.gov/health/vital-records/News_Release_Birth_Certificate_042711.pdf

HONOLULU – The Hawai„i State Health Department recently complied with a request by President Barack Obama for certified copies of his original Certificate of Live Birth, which is sometimes referred to in the media as a “long form” birth certificate.
“We hope that issuing certified copies of the original Certificate of Live Birth to President Obama will end the numerous inquiries related to his birth in Hawai„i,” Hawai„i Health Director Loretta Fuddy said. “I have seen the original records filed at the Department of Health and attest to the authenticity of the certified copies the department provided to the President that further prove the fact that he was born in Hawai„i.”

    What a wonderfully disingenious question.

Why do we know Bush's? Because they were illegally leaked.

    Why don't we know McCain's or Romney's or Obama's?

Because their school records are all protected by the same privacy laws and policies.

Do you think they are all affirmative action babies too? Now what would it be that is different about Obama that makes you ask the question about him.....hmmmm

Bush released his only because they had already been leaked. Sort of like the people who pay their taxes after the news points out that they had skipped out on them. Gore likewise.

I can't find any record that Romney has released his college records.

But we know that McCain didn't, Gingrich didn't, Santorum didn't. Perry didn't. Ronald Reagan didn't.

No candidate voluntarily releases their college records, because the only ones who care are their opponents, who want to mine it looking for any possible embarressing details.

Probably the people to ask that question of, instead of Margot- is every politician- start with your local representative, ask Obama, ask Romney, ask your Senator.

None of them release their college records because they know only their political opponents care- and that they only want access to try to get people to focus on the one "D" they got in basket weaving, rather than their political record.

That is a lot of money. And like all Birther claims, there is not one bit of evidence it is anything but purely imaginatary.

Exactly why would- and how would Obama spend a dime to do anything about records that are already protected both by law, and by Harvard policies?

I don't know about you, but I haven't spent a dime to keep my college records confidential- and they are still confidential!

    You are right.

No one does- and no one has.

It is just another anti-Obama lie.

With respect Jeff, you're wasting your time on these birther blockheads. Presenting them with facts is like me trying to explain Relativity to my cat; utterly futile.

Obviously, I did not believe. Hence the question. I really am curious where they think he is magically spending this $200,000.

200k is a lot for a po half black man to pay to keep school records secret. WTF, he should pay a tenth that to keep his tax record secret like the mega wealthy politicians in congress.

Sounds like this is a conspiricy thread.

What would YOU ask the president reveal about himself? Anything at all? His police record? Anything?

Ask of this President exactly what you have asked of every previous President. Hold all Presidents to the same standard. Expect the same disclosures from Romney as you demand of Obama.

Consistancy and lack of hypocrisy is not too much to ask.

School transcripts cannot be accessed without your consent. God forbid FOXNews report something of significance, instead of starting more nonsense about our current president. First the birth certificate, now his school records, what's next?! A court ordered paternity test to make sure the girls are his? Ridiculous!

When that drooling nosferatu who was Vice President in 2001 releases the records of the energy policy meetings that he held prior to the invasion of Iraq releases the minutes of those meetings and explains why envirionmentalists were totally excluded from any of the seessions, I might think that you people are entitled to see Obama's transcripts.

They have nothing to do with what he owes to or is planning to do to or for America.

How much money Mittens has stashed off-shore to avoid paying income taxes is relevant to what he thinks is good tax policy. How much money and how he made it on deals involving the purchases of American manufacturing businesses is our business. All of Bain Capital's records for the time he was breaking up our industrial infrastructure should be made public.

    Right?

Why would anyone have to hide anything? 200K to hide any secret raises eyebrows above the normal level. Was this the reverse, Obama would be all over Romney like white on rice.

Odd isn't it that Obama hasn't pointed out that Romney is hiding his records just like Obama is hiding his own- simply by ignoring those who would like to dig through them looking for dirt.

Obama is the typical "do as I say not as I do" dude. With him he considers himself to be above everyone...notice the head always slightly back to look down his nose. Everyone is beneth him, even his minions and they lap it up...slurp-slurp.

    blah blah blah

Obama and Romney both are ignoring those who wish to dig through their records to try to find dirt.

Meanwhile it becomes clear that those who only demand that Obama jump through these hoops and ask nothing of Romney are doing this purely for partisan reasons.

    Interesting thread.

Hussein’s defenders gave me a laugh because they are defending irrelevance. By that I mean the records Hussein is legally entitled to keep hidden no longer matter. Irrespective of what is in those records they can hardly be worse than the stuff he could NOT keep secret; i.e., known facts about his background, his associates throughout his life, and so on not to mention his record in the White House. Most Americans now know what he is. There is no defense against that.

    Now about Obama's Teenage Years!
    By Jack Cashill

Now that it has been established that a candidate's teenage years help define the man to come, it might be time to take a new look at the adolescent Obama and his then-mentor, the late Frank Marshall Davis.

I would guess that not one Obama voter out of one hundred could identify Davis by name, and I doubt if one media person out of a thousand has read his memoir, Livin' the Blues. This is unfortunate on any number of levels. For one, Davis's book captures the ebb and flow of 20th-century black American life as well as any ever written.

For another, no one individual influenced the young Obama more than Davis has. This combination should have made Davis a staple of the multicultural canon and a pin-up in every reporter's cubicle, but it did neither. Like Boo Radley, Davis remains in the shadows for one reason: the media fear what the light would do to him. For all of Davis's gifts, and they are many, his lifelong flirtation with darkness makes him a little too creepy for his own display case in the Barack Obama presidential library.

The light is beginning to shine. David Maraniss is sure to address the Davis legacy in his much-discussed book due out in June, Barack Obama: The Story. Davis is the title character of Paul Kengor's new book, due out in July, The Communist. And producer Joel Gilbert has made Davis the centerpiece of his provocative and highly entertaining new documentary, Dreams from My Real Father: A Story of Reds and Deception.

Gilbert argues that it is Davis who is the "real" father in question, not Barack Obama, Sr., as assumed. This argument, which I explore in my 2011 book, Deconstructing Obama, is not as far-fetched as it might sound. What drew my interest initially was a poem published under Obama's name when he was an Occidental College sophomore, titled "Pop."

To show how truly blinded by the Obama aura the media were during the 2008 campaign, all critics who reviewed the poem insisted it was about his grandfather, Stanley Dunham. Rebecca Mead, for instance, writing in the New Yorker, unhesitatingly describes the poem as a "loving if slightly jaded portrait of Obama's maternal grandfather." Biographer David Remnick makes the same point: "'Pop,'" he says as though a given, "clearly reflects Obama's relationship with his grandfather Stanley Dunham."

At least a few critics have seen in the poem an early flowering -- please! -- of Obama's inherent progressive decency. Writes poet Ian McMillan in the U.K. Guardian, "There's a humanity in the poem, a sense of family values and shared cultural concerns that give us a hint of the Democrat to come."

There may be family values on display in the poem -- after all, the title "Pop" does have implications of paternity -- but those values have nothing to do with "Gramps," Stanley Dunham. As Gilbert argues, and as I do in my book, the poem is inarguably about Obama's relationship with Davis. Davis almost certainly wrote the poem as well, giving Obama a head start on his career as a literary scam artist. Six years later, Davis wrote a poem under his own name eerily similar in both style and subject matter called "To a Young Man." Tellingly, perhaps, the Davis family denied me permission to reprint the poem in my book.

That much said, given the available evidence, I failed to convince myself that Davis was Obama's real father. Through the use of visuals, Gilbert has made me rethink my resistance. He has done an excellent job of gathering archival footage on Davis and comparing him physically to Obama -- the same height, the same build, the same smile, the same aging spots on the face, the same addiction to tobacco.

To explain the relationship between Obama and Davis, Gilbert tells a highly involved tale based, as he admits, "on reasoned logic, speculation, and approximated conversations." As a structural device, he has an Obama imitator narrate the documentary as if he were reading from the book, Dreams from My Real Father. This device works well in the telling of the story, but it does not help the viewer differentiate between speculation and fact.

Without having to document sources, the faux Obama is able to tell a seamless tale of intrigue and deception. To be sure, the story will test the gag reflex of the people at Media Matters, but it has an internal logic that works and -- who knows? -- may even be accurate. Given the holes in the Obama narrative, I cannot say for sure that Gilbert is wrong. He is certainly very creative.

The most speculative side of the tale involves Stanley Dunham, who emerges in the story as a CIA case agent, assigned first to Seattle and then to Hawaii to welcome incoming African students. The CIA's intent at the time, and this is legit, was to woo educated Africans away from the Soviet sphere.

Dunham met Davis in Hawaii, so Gilbert speculates, in order to keep an eye on local communists, which Davis surely was. In 1948, two years after his marriage to Helen Canfield, a white socialite eighteen years his junior, Davis had left his job and growing reputation behind and headed for Hawaii. In Livin' the Blues, he credits an article in a women's magazine for the inspiration to leave. Helen read it wistfully, shared her thoughts with Davis, and he promptly "suggested we investigate."

This is all nonsense. As Gilbert details, the CPUSA sent Davis to Hawaii to help orchestrate a crippling strike by the communist-led longshoreman's union.

Into this unholy scenario entered rebellious teenager Stanley Ann Dunham, stage left. A pornographer and photographer of nudes, Davis must have felt like he won the Lotto. I will not spoil the ending here for the potential viewer, nor can I guarantee its validity of the narrative, but this is the most fascinating video treatment of the Obama story that I have yet to see.
