According to a new joint investigation by the Sunday Times and the Bureau of Investigative Journalism, the Pentagon paid a PR firm based in the U.K. over half a billion dollars to make fake terrorist videos in Iraq as part of an enormous propaganda campaign. PR firm Bell Pottinger fabricated short TV segments designed to imitate Arabic news networks and “fake insurgent videos which could be used to track the people who watched them, according to a former employee,” reports the Bureau.

High-ranking U.S. military officials worked with the firm’s employees at Baghdad Camp Victory to create anti-terrorism propaganda to imitate the real thing, the Bureau claims. Besides the Pentagon, Bell Pottinger’s list of clientele reads like the who’s who of unsavory characters — Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet’s foundation, Margaret Thatcher, and the government of Saudi Arabia, for example.

Bell Pottinger’s former chairman, Lord Tim Bell, reportedly confirmed to the Times collaborated on a “covert” military operation “covered by various secrecy agencies” — and reported to the CIA, the Pentagon, and the National Security Council

Our government, president, politicians, political parties and military have elevated the lie to an art form. They cannot be trusted yet, there are still people stupid enough and foolish enough to believe them. They want war, Perpetual War, as it is profitable on many levels. We don't belong in Syria, in fact the whole middle east.

Oh, I REMEMBER this. If I'm not mistaken, these were the silly monthly Osama Bin Laden videos. Even I knew they weren't relevant, especially when they were sporadic. The Bush Administration wasted no expense in propagandizing and making us fear.

Both Bush and Obama are complicit with this. You can also expect the same from Hillary.

    Is there a better source?
If true, I'm confused why you would outsource something that would be this sensitive. Too much to go wrong. Which makes me dubious.

I don't click on "thefreethoughproject.com". Give me something I'll click on. Doesn't have to be "MSM"...
But it still sounds too ludicrous...

It surely does sound like complete nonsense.

First with real videos and real terrorists websites that could be used to track people interest in the subject there is zero need to roll your own.

Give that 500 billions is far larger then any major Hollywood production it would be interesting to know how such a project could go on in secret.

The whole thing is nonsense on it very face.

Footnote in the land of the free and brave for anyone who happen to be curious about such materials I would strongly suggest using the tor network unless you wish to risk being on the no fly list.

Considering g how the government wastes money, 540 million is not unrealistic. There are films that carried a 300million budget, Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy took almost a billion to make.

So depending on how long this charade has gone on and given the governments constant overspending on everything that is not important........ Yeah it is very possible they wasted that large sum of money. I mean just on one of Michelle Obamas trips to Africa I think she used up about $100 million in tax dollars alone.

But still, I am questioning the authenticity of this claim right now until I see more information. I'd like a list of what videos were made to start off.

The idea of the government wasting over half a billion dollars for unneeded videos in the black budget is fine however how do you do so in secret with hundreds if not thousands of people being involved in such productions at all levels?

Pulling skill people in the numbers needed from the normal labor pools for such talents would surely be notice by the movie industry even if not one of thousands would end up talking.

On it face is almost as silly as the idea that the moon landings of the 60s to 70s was fake in some studio.

No argument there, I feel it is a very doubtful claim with little back up.

But if the ones who made this claim could provide proof, starting off with a list of propaganda videos made and even those who made them to comment.... Then we would have something.

But until then, I'm sticking with doubtful lol.

I am always in awe, of online forensic experts who can dismiss something without uttering a word of of evidence or proof, that something is wrong with the evidence presented. In their minds, their opinions become facts.

Lying probably reached it's zenith during the Vietnam war. The US government has always lied to it's citizens. The Wiki leaks were the last and most extensive proofs.

Sorry it is your task to offer proof not ours to proved you wrong.

I gave some of the reasons why your postings seems highly unlikely to contain the truth now please give us all solid evidence that I am wrong as once more the burden is your to back up your claims.

Has anyone considered that they made these videos for the other terrorists to watch and then used them to track them?

Does seem like a good way of identifying terrorist sympathizers and supporters.

However, I do see where this could be a bad thing if these videos were used in our media to make us think things were happening that were actually not.

We'd need more evidence on what specific videos were made under this program to figure that part out.

According to the OP article's source, these videos basically contained spyware. They would leave the CD's behind at places they raided with video in the real player format so it would look like they were something overlooked by the western troops, insurgents would find them and play them when they returned to the sites, and when they were played, they would send IP information to google analytic to trap the information for the government who would then get the information. They were high-tech trojan horses.

This would seem to comport with Wiki's reference to their upcoming 10 weeks of revelations would include info about google and the the US Election.

You did not read the link to the entire article yet you commented on it. At least prove you read the article by quoting from it. Until then, hush.

Why would you be skeptical ? Our Gov't spends huge dollars on propaganda. The State Dept, Pentagon, Media are propaganda machines.

I disagree. I would say that propaganda (lying - misrepresentation - omission) is way more pervasive now. The media for one was not as "owned" and restricted.

Now it is all lies.. almost all the time in relation to foreign policy. Take Syria for example. Where are the reporters on the front lines with the "Free Syrian Army" ? They are not there because the FSA is made up of Islamist extremists such as Al Qaeda/Al Nusra.

It is amazing that the entire mainstream media has been complicit in hide the fact that we have been arming and supporting such groups in Syria from the american people.

    Truly a coup d'etat.

Republicans were easily duped into supporting the trillion dollar invasion of Iraq. For countless politicians, it was either go with the flow or lose your career, something Hillary faced as a Senator. With Bush, it was either, "Yer either with us, or with the terrorists." Oh, I remember those days quite well. And these same yokels on the street who thought Iraq was a threat, fully support Trump today. And the bigshots who pimped the war for Bush, have been regular guests on Faux News ever since. Like they still have credibility...it's amazing.

Fortunately. what you THINK is not relevant, it's what you can PROVE and you've proven nothing except that you mistake your opinions as facts.

LOL and I and others are waiting for your facts and your story telling are not facts either.

You are the one making a claim I am not doing so therefore you are the one who need to come up with proof I do not.

So where the proof of this billion dollars video program?????

Statement from actors, writers, producers . camera men/women, and on and on would be helpful.

Did the US government used a ghosts movie crew to created those videos?

Did they paid them with ghost funds as those kinds of funds would surely show up in one way or the other in any movie support firm bottom line.
