Trump and Biden are both guilty of such things. I am sure there are unhinged right wingers targeting Biden. Fortunately for Democrats, Biden doesn't do much public speaking or nearly as many events. Trump does a couple a day. Thus, more chances by those whom are unhinged.

1) He, and others I have known-noted that the SS can almost always stop an amateur assassin who doesn't want to be caught
2) they are pretty good at stopping an amateur who doesn't care about being caught but not always. Hinckley comes to mind and but for a nearby marine veteran, Sarah Jane Moore might have shot President Ford
3) it is hard to stop a professional who doesn't care about being caught. fortunately, those hitters are very rare

Possibly. But if that is the case, then it is not an assassination attempt. Trump at the wrong place, the wrong time, so to speak. But we need to know where the shooter was to where Trump was to where one of the other by standards who was killed or wounded was. We won't know later today, maybe tomorrow and as late as Monday who the perp was. identification of the perp has to come first, then notify the family, then make the release to the press.
