I've been stoked to see Larry Elder signs all over the last few weeks. Not billboards, but small posters in the center median, underpasses, and on store fronts.

This is the one I see most often...

 

Unless someone wants to come out and admit it’s all about votes, one party seems to strongly believe a certain race is incapable of success without help.

 

Trying to win the highest job in the most populous State in the US by getting 20% of the vote....What a joke. Whoever created this idiotic recall system should be horsewhipped in public. I don’t care which party they belonged to. Newsome will be running next year. Let’s see if Larry can win the primary and beat Newsome or whoever the Dems nominate heads up. Meanwhile the state legislators should get to work scrapping this bullshit recall system. Whoever threw eggs or anything else at Elder is a jerkoff and should be charged accordingly.

 

Recalls have been the law here for over a century.

With the reality that dems have unopposed power in CA, including a supermajority- recalls give others a voice that dems would surely silence if they could.

The Democrats did not always have all the power here. Republicans have been turning off voters for decades now. In my lifetime we have had good governors from both parties. Newsome won with over 60% of the vote. Sticking a third rate tak radio jock into the governor’s seat with 20% of the vote would be a slap in the face to the majority of Californians who voted for Newsome. The whole GOP strategy these days seems to be figuring out how to rule by getting less votes and suppressing the vote. They really have morphed into a disgusting slimy party.

I never remember being disgusted by R's until I saw some of their comments on TV during the 2000 election mess. Granted, I wasn't remotely political back then, and voted for Gore (after 2 Clintons, Bush Sr, and Reagan 2 - yes..... I did, but I was younger and stupider), and thought George Bush an incredibly simple man (not a compliment for the job he was seeking), but I didn't think the entire party was off it's collective rocker... I'm wasn't on this forum, so nobody can say I didn't think John McCain was a solid candidate, until he picked that shrew for VP. Romney I didn't like at all, but he certainly didn't seen like an amoral man...

I guess it is hard to put a start date on it, but there's apparently not going to be an end date..

 

I was disgusted with Cheney/Bush as they were obviously lying war profiteering scum. Florida in 2000 was also extremely shady as the election was run by Bush Florida campaign chair Kathrine Harris and Bush’s brother the Governor. Since then the GOP has gotten slimier and slimier culminating with Trump and his crazed cultists. The scary thing is that 35-40 percent of Americans still follow him.
