200 years ago, the concept of fusion itself would be laughed at. There are many things and credible scientific theories today that would "go against the laws of physics" as it existed in 1823.

Fusion was fist theorized in 1920s by an astrophysicist

    And what about 1723? 1623?

But it will take "billions of years". Lol

The hubris of thinking that humans have already perfectly learned the natural laws and know all there is to know.

Not to mention that with technology, we could find a workaround that conform to the law of physic as we know it today. The law of thermodynamics was even discovered until 1850. Lol

    Important Laws of Physics
    1.Archimedes Principle

The principle was discovered in 3rd century B.C. by the Greek mathematician. Archimedes. It states that when a body is partially or totally immersed in a fluid, it experiences an upward thrust equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by it that i.e. its apparent loss of weight is equal to the weight of liquid displaced.

    2. Avagadro’s Law

In 1811 it was discovered by an Italian Scientist Anedeos Avagadro. This law states that equal volume of all gases under the same conditions of temperature and pressure contain equal number of molecules.

    3. Ohm's Law

In May 1827, Ohm published Die galvanische Kette, mathematisch bearbeitet, which described the relationship between electromotive force, current, and resistance later known as Ohm's law. Ohm obtained the experimental data from which he first formulated his law on 8 January 1826.

    4. Newton’s Laws
He developed the theories of gravitation in 1666
when he was only 23 years old. In 1686, he presented his three laws of motion in the “Principia Mathematica Philosophiae Naturalis.” By developing his three laws of motion, Newton revolutionized science.

    5. Coulomb’s Law (1738-1806)
The force between the two electric charges reduces to a quarter of its former value when the distance between them is doubled. The SI unit of electric charge, coulomb, is named after Charles Augustin de Coulomb who established the law.

    6. Stefan’s Law (1835-1883)

The total energy radiated from a black body is equal to the fourth power of its absolute temperature.

    7. Pascal’s Law (1623-1662)
    - When pressure is applied to a fluid, the pressure change is transmitted to every part of the fluid without loss. Hydraulic machines like the hydraulic press work on this principle.
    - Atmospheric pressure decreases with increase in height. The SI unit of pressure is pascal which is named after Pascal who established this law.

    8. Hooke’s Law (1635-1703)

This law states that the extension of a spring is proportional to the tension stretching it. Doubling of the tension results in the doubling of the amount of stretch.

    9. Bernoulli's Principle
First derived (1738) by the Swiss mathematician Daniel Bernoulli
, the theorem states, in effect, that the total mechanical energy of the flowing fluid, comprising the energy associated with fluid pressure, the gravitational potential energy of elevation, and the kinetic energy of fluid motion, remains constant

    10. Boyles's Law

Known for his law of gases, Boyle was a 17th-century pioneer of modern chemistry. Every general-chemistry student learns of Robert Boyle (1627–1691) as the person who discovered that the volume of a gas decreases with increasing pressure and vice versa—the famous Boyle's law

400 years ago, in 1623, all but one of these laws didn't exist. Who knows what kind of scientific principles we would discover in the next 400 years.

Ah, got it. You are a believer in junk science.

Let me know when we start mining diamonds from the air.

"The scientific method is an empirical method for acquiring knowledge that has characterized the development of science since at least the 17th century It involves careful observation, applying rigorous skepticism about what is observed, given that cognitive assumptions can distort how one interprets the observation"

Good god, and you actually believe that is a real thing?

Yes, junk science. But I was actually only joking, I did not think you would actually believe it is a real thing.

I suppose you believe in solar freaking roadways also, and gravity batteries.

Must be embarrassing after sounding so confident in saying that this very thing that scientists have done and are currently researching is "Junk science"

He is actually a nuclear physicist, and his hobby is busting fake science claims with real science.

In fact, want to know how it is fake? This company has been around for around 5 years now. And has produced... nothing. They just rerelease the same nonsense every year or so to build up more hype and funding, but has yet to actually do anything.

    https://ideas.ted.com/this-tower-sucks-up-smog-and-turns-it-into-diamonds/

That is commonly known as a "Ponzi Scheme". All they are doing is trying to suck as money as they can from governments and investors. And you really think this is a thing?

Want to invest in a gravity battery while you are at it?

    Sounds like a looser

As I said. I don't care about some random looser on YouTube who says something is impossible. When you literally have scientists making and researching this very thing. Work that was published in Scientific American.

It was also published in the American Chemistry Society

Diamonds from the sky’ approach turns CO2 into valuable products

    https://www.acs.org/pressroom/newsreleases/2015/august/co2.html

But some random two bit chemist on YouTube says it junk science. And thus you believe it. Lol

Not to mention that there are peer reviewed papers about it.

    ABSTRACT
We report on fundamental discovery of conversion of amorphous carbon into diamond by irradiating amorphous carbon films with nanosecond lasers at room-temperature in air at atmospheric pressure. We can create diamond in the form of nanodiamond (size range <100 nm) and microdiamond (>100 nm). Nanosecond laser pulses are used to melt amorphous diamondlike carbon and create a highly undercooled state, from which various forms of diamond can be formed upon cooling. The quenching from the super undercooled state results in nucleation of nanodiamond. It is found that microdiamonds grow out of highly undercooled state of carbon, with nanodiamond acting as seed crystals.

But since some random yoububer said it. It must be junk science.

And I can tell you did not even watch it, as he never said that at all.

Obviously you never actually research anything, and just make up your mind based on what you believe and nothing else ever matters.

Liberals claim that GM crops have adverse environmental impacts. However some GM crops need 37% less pesticides sprayed on them which benefits the environment[18] . Reduced pesticide spraying has made a significant contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by over 10 billion kg, equivalent to removing five million cars from the roadways[19]

What made you think this thread was about GM???

What made you think that all "liberals" are of one mind on ANYTHING and aren't joined by conservatives on many things???

If you want to rant about "liberals", go start a thread.

Hydrogen has one electron when it loses that electron and becomes an isotope it becomes a "hydrogen proton"

Hydrogen protons are a big deal in photosynthesis.

Well it's not like you already went off the rails from talking about fusion to talking about green house gasses (which is what the thread I posted is about btw) to talking about composting

It took less than 100 years to go from the invention of the airplane to the invention of the Space Shuttle.

Experimental Validation of Gravity Energy Storage Hydraulic Modeling

    Abstract
Energy storage is widely believed as a solution to the high integration of renewable energy technologies. As more renewable energy systems are deployed, there will be an increasing need for more energy storage. So far, pumped hydro storage (PHS) is considered the most significantly used storage technology. Investors are looking for systems able to overcome PHS drawbacks. As an alternative to PHS, gravity energy storage is a system that is currently under development. This technology is based on PHS working principle. The modeling and simulation of this system is the subject of this paper. This work focuses on the hydraulic dynamics of the system. Since gravity energy storage requires complex fluid and structural systems, a mathematical model has been developed using Simulink to investigate the system performance. The proposed model has been validated experimentally. The results obtained from the performed simulation allow for the identification of important parameters such as duty cycle time, piston position, chambers pressure and volume, as well as quantification of the system power and capacity. It is demonstrated that the simulated model can successfully mimic the operation of a real model with relatively small errors.

I'd say that it cause disease. There's no real study, because it would be extremely to do, and the lobby is strong in US. It's run by the same people who purposefully messed up the food pyramid.

but take a look at this.

"Bowing to scientists' near-universal scorn, the journal Food and Chemical Toxicology today fulfilled its threat to retract a controversial paper claiming that a genetically modified (GM) maize causes serious disease in rats, after the authors refused to withdraw it.

Growth hormones found in meat could have a substantial effect on prepubescent children. If a child isn't yet producing growth hormones themselves, consumption of these growth hormones through either meat or dairy products could enter the child into puberty around seven months earlier, a study has found."

Amen. The corporate lobbies are strong - stronger than government in many cases, not that government cares much about science related to what we eat.

The very idea that there is a food pyramid is counter to human dietary needs. It was created by strong food lobbies fighting for position that could be advertised, not dietary science.

This last problem of pumping drugs into cattle, etc., is a similar case.

We had/have strong political food industry representation that has demanded the right to pump cattle, chickens, etc. full of hormones and other drugs.

I think the organic food idea went kind of off the rails to some extent. But, the hope for having food without hormones, carcinogenic compounds on products we don't always cook, etc., hits me as something that IS important.

When I buy food products, I look for labels promising no hormones or antibiotics, etc. And, I'll have to say it's usually on foods labeled organic.
