    https://www.cincinnati.com/story/ne...pital-treat-covid-19-patient-drug/5647432001/

A suburban Cincinnati woman, whose husband has been on a ventilator at West Chester Hospital with COVID-19, won a court order forcing the hospital to treat her husband's novel coronavirus infection with an antiparasitic treatment commonly used for livestock.

So, what do you all think about this. Most of us were against a judge removing parental rights until a mother is vaccinated, how do you all feel about a judge telling a doctor how to treat a patient?

I say this is even worse than that.

"You are not a horse. You are not a cow. Seriously, y'all. Stop it"

    "Science"

Meanwhile actual science is being tested with it in places like Japan and India.

Quick better stop using Ibuprofen as horses use that as well *gasp*

Whether you think it is a useful treatment or not is totally irrelevant to a ****ing judge telling a doctor what medicine to use

I am going by the usage of it in other countries. I will leave those who think for science to those on the left who claim actual results are "anti-science" or "conspiracy"/

You did not read this part did you??
Judge Gregory Howard gave the go-ahead on Aug. 23 to Dr. Fred Wagshul's prescription of 30 milligrams of ivermectin daily for three weeks, as requested by his wife. Julie Smith is the guardian for her husband, court documents show.

Oh, and here is who Japan is testing it on....In Japan, the Kitasato Institute has been conducting a clinical trial since last September, targeting coronavirus patients with mild to moderate symptoms, with blood oxygen levels of 95 percent of more.

If you are on a vent, your blood oxygen levels are not 95 percent of more and you are not having mild to moderate symptoms

so much for going where the science goes.

I support the alt-right treating themself with whatever medication they choose. I do not support judges ordering doctors to preform medical treatment ama.

Has been is not always currently on. People who write articles use language for a reason.. People like you would assume he is still on a ventilator.

Is there a reason you broke copy right infringement by not posting a link to your copy and paste?

He was sedated and intubated and placed on a ventilator on Aug. 1. He later developed a secondary infection he was still wrestling with as of Aug. 23, court records say.

Jeffrey Smith was in a medically induced coma on Aug. 20, according to an affidavit his wife filed with her lawsuit. "My husband is on death's doorstep; he has no other options," she wrote, adding at another point that her husband's chances of survival had "dropped to less than 30%."

nothing about him being off of it

    Oh, my bad...

    more from the same article...

Ivermectin's US manufacturer Merck also said in February that there was "no scientific basis" for the drug's potential therapeutic effect against COVID-19.

What this hospital has done so far has not worked. Let free people make their own decisions with their own doctors, plenty of which are big Ivermectin fans. Having the Government disregard most therapeutics is very troubling. We are not using 50% of the options available to deal with CV-19 for some unknown reason.

I took HDQ, Zinc, Vitamin D on the 10th day of my CV-19 illness and it really did seem to help. My story is anecdotal, but my wife and I both snapped out of the worst of it about 1.5 - 2 days later.

Not sure what would happen should the patient have an adverse reaction to the drug. If the patient is near death would be one thing.

I do not agree with Trump throwing out medical advice. I do not agree with any judge throwing out medical advice (assuming the judge is not a licensed physician. There are a handful of people that hold both MDs and JDs but that's not the norm). Further, if she or he has a license to practice medicine, NONE of that should dictate the *exact* treatment plan someone else's physician should be ordered to take.

    Too many boundary crossings there.

Agreed. Let people make medical decisions with their doctors freely. Just like abortion. Glad you guys have finally come around!

The government has disregarded drugs that are ineffective against COVID, as any GOOD government should. Only a crappy one would promote drugs that are ineffective against COVID as therapeutics for COVID...can't believe that sentence had to be typed...

Great. Of course it's hilarious that folks who won't get a vaccine will take a drug like hydroxy and ivermectin, both of which have higher likelihood of bad side effects than the well tested and proven vaccine. Also, the vaccine actually works against COVID. Neither of those two drugs do a thing for it. Vitamin D and Zinc are only a problem when you are deficient in them. Adding more than your body needs isn't proven to do anything. Lastly, 10 days is usually the breaking point of when people either recover from COVID 19 or get worse. So I think yours just ran it's course based on what we know of the virus, HDQ, and the vitamins you took.

On the other hand, perhaps the judge based this decision on the rights of the individual, or someone acting in a legal capacity on their behalf, to receive whatever medicines they think they need? Does the doctor always know best?

It makes no sense to me that anyone would want to use this drug on themselves or loved ones, but if people are stupid enough to believe the crap they get from mostly right wing sources, I say let 'em. How far must we go to protect the stupid or the willfully ignorant from themselves?
