You would think with 24/7 news they would actually cover world news. Instead, they are incredibly cheap. They pick one topic and have talking heads say the same thing over and over and over for days - all of it 100% predictable

For the last 3 days, the entire world vanished except for France. The same thing over and over - and everything said is 100% predictable, endless repeated and all said before. Basically, to know the news according to cable news is to watch 10 minutes once every 3rd day and you got all the news in the whole world according to them. And Fox, MSNBC and CNN all watch each other to make certain they are covering exactly the same thing with exactly the same perspective.

Cable news follows the money. Their stories are based on what gets the most viewers. What gets the most viewers sells the most ads. Welcome to the United States, advertising runs the show. Cable news stories aren't a matter of cheapness or laziness, it's a matter of entertaining the masses and attracting more viewers. 24 Hr cable news LIVES for a major event like a terrorist attack in a major industrialized country like Paris, it's rare and it's violent (fits the news formula). Now they can keep viewers updated minute-by-minute and keep them tuning in all week for updates. YOU might have to do some work now and find other global news yourself in newspapers and magazines.
