I guess I have to eat my words here. I have been of the opinion that while Cain represents what is like America's best hope, he doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell of winning the nomination.

Now he accomplished one of the most meteoric rises in recent history going from 5% last week to a tie of 17% this week.

If he's chosen, my local super-market will run out of popcorn.

Sometimes a man grabs the bull by the horns, wrestles it to the ground, ties its legs so it can't move. Then when he stands up people notice he's a black man and no body gives a (*)(*)(*)(*).

Cain is likely to drop as fast as he rose. He's the media darling this week, but let's wait until he has to do something more than deliver sound bites.

Nope. There's a very big difference between a real man and a shyster lawyer.

I can only assume you mean Cain is the real man. He is not a lawyer anyway.

I have to say this surge surprised me, but as a veteran of many of these contests I agree that he could plummet as fast as he rises which is unfortunate as he certainly has the chops.

I am astonished as I simply figured he is too far out of the mainstream Republican mold to be a front runner. I thought he would wallow in the rear until January or February time frame and then drop out.

Has anyone in this race done anything but deliver sound bites? If you were a little more objective you might see that he is a fresh face with some appealing ideas.....

If Cain screws up he will go down like Perry and Bachman. The conservative electorate is in no mood for any BS. I don't know about other segments of the electorate, but conservatives are in "take the Bastille" mode.

I hope it happens. I turned my sister onto him today and we discussed him for a good half hour. She's interested for sure and she's pretty left of center.

Well, Ron Paul comes to mind......

And what appealing ideas are you talking about? 999? It's not been looked at fully, but a report I've seen shows it to be in favor of the wealthy at the expense of the lower middle class. If 999 turns out to be not all it's touted as, then what has Cain really got to offer?

Yup, no two ways about it, I believe we are looking at an honest man here. Hell, anybody that did what he did in life has my vote..he's a proven man...
Obama was nothing then, and nothing now....and STILL playing the class game,,,awful!
Think about it, did a guy like Cain achieve what he did by sitting home and saying...''awww, I am black, everybody hates me,,,poor me....I dont stand a chance...''
Nope!, the guy is the real deal. I'm not saying he will definitely win, I am saying he deserves to be there...Good for him!!! :)

Then again, maybe Janeane Garofalo is right, and us conservatives have plotted it all to fool her...
Yup,,,that must be it...Yayyyyy Tea party,,good trick! ..[IMG]

I agree. In the past Cain was required to take on complete responsibility for two failing enterprises. In both cases he identified and diagnosed the nature of the problems, came up with a prognosis, and implemented the plan successfully. The guy's batting average is 1000% in real life.

Obama's problem is that he never managed anything before becoming president. As a result he's learning on the job. That doesn't work for us.

I wouldn't worry about what the polls say today, you are still right. Cain doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell of winning the republican nomination.

Obama is not a problem solver, I have mentioned that before, anybody can be a book worm,,anybody. People keep mentioning his records at College, hell we have not even seen his records, and even if we did what would it mean?
Knowing how to study and problem solving have nothing in common, one is common sense and experience, the other is memorizing....and we are not even sure Obama is good at that, why the prompter??? A prompter is nothing more than a legal cheat sheet, ever see him when it goes out? The man is a disaster, however if he really understood the problem, if he really knew what he was talking about he would have no problem.
That's the difference, and it's a HUGE difference. Even with Health Care it was Romney's brain he used. He also took much from Bush, I do not think he has had an original idea yet.
Everybody waited for his well thought out jobs plan, and we waited,,and waited. Many figured it must be a really great plan, hell all we got was the same old stuff, he could have wrote it down in an hour.
    TAX THE RICH,,INFRASTRUCTURE...YAYYYYYYYY!!!!!

He should have brought back Joe the plumber........

OK, I will give you that one, but then I've never considered Ron Paul a viable candidate...my bad.

Well, he did in fact manage something, a non profit organization. And that tells the whole story. The first thing he did was increase staff from one to 13.

That should tell people all they need to know about Owebama....

I agree that the Republicans are angry. But I think if you scratch the surface slightly you will find the entire electoral body is pissed off. Even the trade unions are angry at Owebama.

I have said for about two years that 2012 will be a hold your nose and vote election...unless the Republicans can find a candidate that doesn't scare the sh*t out of the undecided.

Until now the front runners have been just that - scary. Bachmann, Perry and Palin [will she?] are very scary and the rest, with the exception of Cain, are yawn producing misfits.

If the Republicans can't find a candidate acceptable to the middle ground, they will hold their nose and vote for the devil they know.

He is not a leader either....he's too sensitive and self involved to take risk and leadership demands courage to stand alone.

My read is that he knows he is out of his depth. his strength is political attacks and public appeal. I think the decisions are being made based on what his advisers think will get him votes and in that regard he's being led around with a ring in his nose.

Joe the plumber would be a liability for him now. Owebama has demonstrated that everything old Joe was worried about was true.

What he said about growing up in the south is most impressing. He's a good Christian man with good values, who truly sees people as equals.
While not my choice, I rather see him than Romney or Perry, and certainly prefer him over Obama any day.

This fellow is a proven man with experience and common sense, Obama to me is a idealistic Kid, he has never deserved to be in that position. To me he was put there by the left to do their bidding.
His term is over,,they failed. However if they get Obama care to stick than in their eyes he was a success....That's why it was job one!

LOL,,What I meant was that Joe the plumber was more Obama's speed, he can look in charge and very intellectual next to Joe. However if he tries to debate a guy like Gingrich or Romney,,,he's dead! I believe he would have his hands full with Cain as well, it would be like a Father scolding a son....LOL
