Jeez, he's only been in office for what, 4-5 years and NOW he's fed up? Oh, yeah, I forgot - he's buffing up is law and order credentials for his run for President.

Got to buff up his state and make it look presentable before he can run.

I'm sure we'll just hear crickets from all those on the Left about this.

He's fed up about homeless not having a stable living situation so is proving funds to allow for more permanement housing.

You'd have to be braindead and in denial to think that they're actually going to be providing stable living situations for all those homeless people.

Yeah sure, they'll throw a little more money towards housing to make themselves feel better about this. It won't go very far. Look at the ridiculously absurd amount of funds these programs have spent per person in the past.

I'd be very surprised if even 900 of them get housing.

$300 million will go towards stable housing. Is it more compassionate to leave them in the streets?

It wasn't like this in the 1990s.

I don't think the country has seen homeless encampments like this since the "Hoovervilles" that lasted up till the early 1940s, in the wake of the Great Depression.

Of course, the easiest human emotion of all is apathy. Uncomfortable subjects like this, the mind instinctively turns away. It's human psychology.

Or how about everywhere? We do need to create compassionate living conditions but said conditions cannot and should not affect the lives of ordinary Americans. And that's what these tents, etc do.

Eeeehhh...no. Just because the usual "new" outlets keep talking about it, doesn't mean its new. You can see how it begun to rise in 2017, and then of course Covid didn't help.

Thus graph illustrates the rapid rise during Trump era, which seems to have tapered off since then

I don't mind the tents (and we have our share of them), what bothers me are the beggars we have at every traffic light trying to make eye contact. They all wear a fake sad face and a fake limp, but I see them do drugs, so there is no way I'd give them money.

I notice how Pro_Line_FL is repeatedly trying to deflect from and minimize the issue.

I guess he's not equipped to address it head-on.

Exactly, he's realized that he needs to appeal to a people who actually want to control spending, furnish a quality education and are tired of competing with illegals for services, employment, medical care and education for their children. His squishy liberalism sells well in the big cities were the big money people can afford to escape the miasma the streets have become.

In the 90s, property values were not even remotely this high. Property values in every state have gone up.

That is a ridiculous approach to fixing the homeless issue.

Why don't you "address" it as opposed to talking about me?

I am talking about the issue: the homeless.

Of course it is, but it seems hip these days.

Actually a Ft Lauderdale down-town park was pretty much taken over by the homeless and there was rats, feces and needles everywhere, so they bussed them to Davie, which is another town in Broward and Davie was NOT amused. They agreed to let them back after they had cleaned up the park, so most of them returned, and then the homeless sued the city

Why not send them to states with a surplus who can afford to do something with them?

That's fine for a quick stop gap measure, but being homeless is fluid. Someone can be homeless one year and then be ok the next. Not all homeless are going to want to stay in the place they have been moved. The relocation place must also have open work for them. A good percentage of homeless are mentally impaired. There is no easy single fix. Etc.

There are too many variables that are in play to make the homeless issue a single fix solution.
