Polling showed crime was top of mind for many Californians heading into November’s election. And Republicans in the state Assembly are introducing a slate of bills they argue will help make the state safer.

The measures, highlighted at a Monday press conference, include stiffer penalties for repeat shoplifters, reinstating enhanced punishment for gun crimes and undoing a ballot initiative that downgraded sentences for certain offenses.

Republican leader James Gallagher, of Nicolaus, said he was optimistic the bills would receive support from Democrats, who make up more than two-thirds of the Legislature...

…Beyond that, Alanis called for ending the “war on cops” and doing more to address mental health, drug and housing issues in the state….

Elected Democrats are more opposed to law abiding citizens having guns than they are to crime. They actually prefer high crime rates and try to use them to pressure weak minded people into giving up their 2A rights. The GOP position on fighting crime is the right way to do so.

We will not give up our guns no matter the crime rates in cities with Soros DA’s and defund the police movements. It’s time that democrats get crime under control in their cities. Rural people won’t be giving up guns so they should not pass gun grabbing laws we won’t follow and our LEO’s won’t enforce.

There is a movement to largely get rid of bail for a variety of charges.
Some allege that the brains/money behind this is a 92 year old man who’s rich but is using his wealth, “wrong!”

I like having a gun nearby in case some other gun nut tries to test me. Hasn't happened yet but you never know.

The violent crime fuels the anti-gun agenda.

None for me personally. I may still buy one just to have it. I will inherit one one day. I’m talking about my friends and neighbors and rural counties in general.

Which why democrats like high crime rates. It doesn’t matter though because people in rural counties will not give any up and local law enforcement won’t enforce such.

Gun control is predicated on the assumption that a woman, raped and strangled with her pantyhose is somehow preferable to that same woman explaining to a Police Officer how that hole got in her attempted rapist's head.
