I know quite a bit about HVAC. California is having issues in summertime already when people are running air conditioners. Once they shut off natural gas to housing the major player for heat will be heat pumps. They’re cool for sure, but they take more energy to heat than they take to cool. So California’s summertime problem will become a year round problem. I don’t live there so I don’t care but I don’t want them moving to my state and brining their stupidity here they’re running from.

They have 23 upgrade project on-going to improve the grid, and I think Texas needs to do the same, since they have issues every year.

Actually the FOX 'experts' made no mention of the upgrade projects. Its just another 'back California' hit piece. If you don't like CA, then don't move there. Its that simple. I dont plan to move there, or to Texas where the power grid is already failing.

I think Texas already produces more renewable energy than California.

Well, in the end it serves California right. You get what you vote for and the stupid people keep winning elections there. Can't be real sympathetic.

No. Sorry no mention. Let it go. It doesn't matter. Its just another "whine about California" article. I have seen enough to last a lifetime.

It clearly talks about transmission lines and how they do not have enough. Californias idea of upgraded systems has nothing to do with capacity, they’re only concern is green energy and that is an upgrade in their mind

I said your article does not mention that California has 23 upgrade projects (billions of dollars) on-going to improve/upgrade the grid / capacity

I live in California. With regard to electrical power the common feeling among my circle of friends is that we are living in a third world country. Power goes off it seems once every week. When the wind blows power is shut off in some locations because the money to maintain power line easements has been siphoned off into renewables. There is a 1200 volt line going to our housing community on polls that have been leaning over at ~ 20 degrees off vertical for over a decade. In Sacramento residents cannot run their AC from ~ 4pm to 8pm. It’s amazing how much damage the progressive alarmists have done to this beautiful state.

I live in CA. The power policies are an embarrassing mess. The grid is failing in TX due to reliance on wind and solar.

Its failing in TX, because their policy makers are stupid. Things are falling apart, and all they can do it find excuses and something to blame.

Their policy makers relied on wind and solar. And that policy has failed the citizens of TX.

You will read that it was the shutdown of natural gas generation but the fossil fuel generation equipment is not being properly maintained and weather proofed aa funds are diverted to wind.

Thanks for proving my point. They will NEVER admit they made bad decisions, and try to blame this or that instead, and no, the root cause for their failure is NOT wind and solar.

    The bad decision was wind.

Wind is used in pretty much every State, any countless other countries, but they don't have same issues as Texas, but then again, they never decided to isolate their grid from other grids AND when they go with wind, they maintain and winterize their turbines, which is something Texans don't bother with.

Grade for running things = F

    Grade for blame-shifting = A+

What will California do when the wind isn't blowing and it's the middle of the night, and it's cold? Oh an everyone is charging their cars?

Good luck. Unless they are building nuclear for the base power, they are going to drown in their bad decisions.

Wind is an economic loser in multiple ways. Those utilities that commit to wind are jeopardizing the well being and economic stability of their customers. And as always this is regressive meaning that the lower income quintiles are most negatively affected. Germans pay 3X for electric power than we do in the US. Why?? Wind.

When Texas had their cold weather problems 2 years ago, the wind generators froze and they provide 15% of Texas' power. Combine that with Federal restrictions on gas and coal and you have issues. Texas has hardened what resources they have. They have made the gas and wind generation more weather resistant, but they haven't added much like they need to.

A few years ago California was having major outages and they came to Texas for more power. We brought old coal powered generators out of mothballs and sent them power. The Feds fined TX for using the coal generators, but we passed that cost on to California. California was using the dirty power. Since CA already buys 1/3 of their electricity out of state, I suspect that will be happening again soon.

Energy just like most other products is not produced or manufactured in California anymore.
