Which, obviously predates Jesus. Which seems to indicate progress, right?

1st Corinthians is a Pauline text.

"Pope Francis Backs Slovakia’s Referendum Against Same-Sex Marriage, Adoption Rights" https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/pope-slovakia-referendum_n_6630876.html

.....too bad Jesus hates gays too much to take a mere 10 seconds out of his life of helping people find their car keys to tell the Pope that the Pope is an idiot. Francis is a monster.

"Progress" and "Jesus" don't belong in the same sentence.

I'm only talking EDUCATION, like the Sermon on the Mount was education. People don't have to follow his education if they choose not to.

Typical cherrypicking, out-of-context, authoritative, doctral, agenda-based manipulation. You could make a fortune as a social engineer with just a bit of training.

Im sure it was entirely by mistake that you left out the last part... Heres the whole thing (your welcome [emphasis added by me])

"9 have ye not known that the unrighteous the reign of God shall not inherit? be not led astray; neither whoremongers, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor sodomites,

10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, the reign of God shall inherit.

11 And certain of you were these! but ye were washed, but ye were sanctified, but ye were declared righteous, in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God."

So, no, this is not a list of people who are 'barred from heaven', its a (quite inclusive) list of (pretty much everyone) that CAN go to heaven because they've been forgiven.

So if it predates him then Jesus would have been able to, during his 33 years on earth, condemn it.

When a divine being who by definition cannot be wrong “educates” people, that interferes with free will.

This is NOT saying gays get into heaven.
The Pope condemned same-sex marriage, so obviously the Pope didn't get your memo!

    thats incredibly rude and unneccessary.

i suggest you try to express your views without attacking and trolling people you disagree with.

I suppose that depends on your point of view. I am the light, and the word seems remarkably different than say, the 10 commandments... Just saying..

So then apparently you condemn Jesus for the Sermon on the Mount and for any educating that he did during his lifetime, then.

Only if Jesus was god at the time. That is not objectively established.

I really have no idea what you're referring to here. And frankly, it seems like trolling. I would point out that gay folks have been getting married in the catholic church for eons. Perhaps not to each other, but certainly to others. It hasn't stopped, nor does it look to be something Francis wants to stop anytime soon.

I would ask, why do you suppose that Francis is authoritative here?

The pope is a communist pedophile. **** the pope.

And, what do you suppose 'made righteous' and 'washed clean' means?

I'll STICK BY that assessment of Christians ("monsters"), because they are exactly like, say, someone who approved of an equally monsterous scheme about who would get into heaven and who would get tortured as if who got in depended upon, say, WHICH FOOTBALL TEAM ONE SUPPORTED. All 49er fans get into "heaven", but all other fans get burned in "hell". Jesus's/Christian's criteria is EQUALLY as monsterous as THAT would be!! It's the same thing, basically! That's monsterous.

Does that make Paul wrong then? Or does it just mean he was documented describing the world around him, and misquoted? Jesus said, "He who believeth in me". I don't see a lot of equivocation in that.

"Perhaps not to each other"!? "Perhaps not to each other"!? Wow, I'm afraid that you simply don't get it!! That's the whole point, to "each other"!

Can you condemn Jesus for saying in the Bible that marriage is (only) between a man and a woman? Obviously marriage is more than the barbaric Jesus thought - it can be between and woman and a woman, and it can be between a man and a man. But Jesus, in 2000 years and counting, can't find the moral courage to approve of that. A barbarian, to be sure.

Likely correct. I return to the phrase, "he who believeth in me". Seems pretty simple to understand......

Then like me you advocate REMOVING that verse, just to make it clear, just to show our love of gays, just to be sure, correct?

What is means is that the Bible is simply not an ethical/loving book.

Which still doesn't mean that your original assertion was accurate, which I demonstrated to you. I doubt you'll ever find a movement in the church to become a platform that rescinds 1000 years of doctrine though. It's like liberals. Once they get the bone...

I doubt it's less about moral courage and more about collection plate production... Yes, I can be cynical. That doesn't mean that it isn't also probably true.
