"Islamist" is a word used for those hardline muslims who want to impose their islamic beliefs on others. Examples include harsh punishments for apostasy, adultery, blasphemy or homosexuality etc. This is the ideology that islamist terrorists fight for.

Islamists are a much greater threat than actual terrorists, because they are so much more numerous, and terrorists will never achieve anything without popular support. Islamists are the root of the problem.

Neither is liberty compatible with democracies. Democratic republics are "liberal" (as in pro-liberty) to the degree the consensus in society decides to refrain from robbing or caging the individual.

But, I take your point - Sharia is wrong. Just like democracy.

yep. A more "republican" form of government is better suited for Liberty. It used to be that the word "democratic" was assigned to the elective process, not domination. I have little use for Republicans that embrace "democracy" because it has become a misnomer. It used to be, and still is, a wonderment to me that we want to go to the Mideast and install "democracy" in countries that have no use for it. At least they have a handle on "democracy" and what it really means.......
Democracy is just another word for socialism, IMO

no more then Christianity can, keep the religions out of government.... this protects the religion and the government

    example

had American been a Christian theocracy and went to war with Iraq, it would be Christians at war with Muslims

but because we had a secular government, even with a Christian leader, Christians can wipe their hands of it and blame it on the government instead

    see how that works
