Can Barack Obama ever be trusted to tell the truth?

Who actually wrote "Dreams From My Father"? Was Barack Obama really the principal author... Did he get a lot of help and literary assistance from another person who actually served as his "ghost writer?

There continues to be a lot of discussion on this subject in the other political forums. This article provides some good, insightful information on this most interesting subject.

"Then suddenly, somehow, the muse descended on Obama and transformed him from a struggling, unschooled amateur, with no paper trail beyond an unremarkable legal note and a poem about fig-stomping apes, into a literary superstar."

In liberalese, do "old lies" morph into "new truths?" In the real world, lies remain lies, forever.

As usual, you are mistaken, LBS.

Bill Ayers Admits For Second Time He Wrote Obama's 'Dreams From My Father'

    What a complete shock.

Assuming that you are quoting Jack Cashill, then clearly he is lieing.

"Bill Ayers claims he wrote Obama's "Dreams From My Father""

Yet nowhere in the article you quoted did he say that.

So who is failing to tell the truth here? Jack Cashill? You?

"Then suddenly, somehow, the muse descended on Obama and transformed him from a struggling, unschooled amateur, with no paper trail beyond an unremarkable legal note and a poem about fig-stomping apes, into a literary superstar."[/QUOTE]

Jack Cashill evidence is that he doesn't think a 'struggling, unschooled amatuer" could turn into a literary superstar- I refer you to Frank McCourt author of Angela's Ashes.

Clearly Jack Cashill doesn't read anything other than anti-Obama blogs, Angela's Ashes is the memoir of Frank McCourt- his first book, a best seller and Pulitzer Prize winner. And frankly a much better and much more entertaining book than "Dreams of My Father".

Personally, I think that Jack Cashill is just jealous that Barack Obama is a far more successful author than he is.

You know what- I think when the next Republican President is elected, maybe I will also start a thread each day attacking him, as a tribute to you.

Ah. OK that was recent. You should have put this link in the OP.

It sounded (and read) like he was cracking a joke at the expense of gullible idiots to me.....

Oh certainly Bill Ayers is certainly claiming credit here:

QUESTIONER: What is your opinion of Barack Obama’s style as a writer?

AYERS: I think the first book is very good. The second one was more of a political hack book, but the first book’s quite good.

QUESTIONER: Right, and also, you mentioned about the Pentagon and…

AYERS: Did you know I wrote it?

    QUESTIONER: What’s that?

AYERS: I wrote “Dreams From My Father.”

    CROWD: We know that.

    QUESTIONER: You wrote that?

AYERS: Yeah, and if you could help me prove it, I’ll split the royalties with you.

Proving once again that Conservatives have no sense of humor, but apparently Ayers and his audience did- as they all laughed.

What is really funny is that if Ayers actually addressed the Cashill rumor machine directly, and denied the rumor, you would say he was lieing. Instead he addressed Cashill's lies with humor....and you take that as confirmation.

Which is really rather funny and telling.

    Excellent observation, Dan40!

The Leftists in this group believe if you tell the same lie enough times, people will eventually believe it.

Here is another example of their immature attempt at humor.

James, quit running from the topic.

Which would be that you were caught reposting old lies about Obama, and yet you're not the least bit contrite about it.

Given that you show no remorse over being caught parroting lies, why shouldn't everyone simply assume everything you say is probably a lie?

Hey you are the one promoting the story that Obama must have used a ghost writer because no novice writer could have done what he did....and I pointed out the example of Frank McCourt did just that.

But like I said....Conservatives wouldn't know about the use of humor to address silly rumors.

    Oh my god!

I have been owned because I miss spelled a word!

Man...I guess all that time spent starting a new Anti-Obama thread each day has given you lots of time to checking your spelling rather than the facts.

James, you are very incorrect sir. I know this difficult for partisan robots to compute, but you should look up and try to comprehend 'Sarcasm'.

    Very dishonest thread James, very.

How does a terrorist bomber become an educator in Chicago? Can a liberal explain this?

Let's have a little test- are these jokes or is the person being serious:

''These stories about my intellectual capacity really get under my skin. You know, for a while I even thought my staff believed it. There on my schedule first thing every morning it said, 'Intelligence Briefing.''

    President George W. Bush

''A conservative is a man with two perfectly good legs who, however, has never learned how to walk forward.''

    President Franklin Roosevelt

''My esteem in this country has gone up substantially. It is very nice now when people wave at me, they use all their fingers.''

    President Jimmy Carter

''My fellow Americans. I'm pleased to announce that I've signed legislation outlawing the Soviet Union. We begin bombing in five minutes.''

    President Ronald Reagan

''I just received the following wire from my generous Daddy: 'Dear Jack, Don't buy a single vote more than is necessary. I'll be (*)(*)(*)(*)ed if I'm going to pay for a landslide.'''

    President John Kennedy

''This is an impressive crowd: the haves, and the have-mores. Some people call you the elite, I call you my base.''

    President George W. Bush

''I have left orders to be awakened at any time in case of national emergency -- even if I'm in a Cabinet meeting.''

    President Ronald Reagan

"I wrote “Dreams From My Father....Yeah, and if you could help me prove it, I’ll split the royalties with you.

Cashill lays out a pretty strong case over the several articles I've read. It could be reinforced with a wasted weekend reading the source material...but that ain't happenin.

Given the number of blank spots in the Obama history, nothing surprises me.

No "journalist" has EVER asked Barack Obama if he had assistance with this book. In fact, they did not even vet the book!

On the other hand, the Associated Press assigned 12 full time staff to entirely vet Sarah Palin's book.

This is just another example of the extreme bias in the National (Democratic Party) Media.

Will the media ever do their job?

    Come now, SFJEFF.

People often use humor and satire in their statements to deflect the truth.

Here by the way is a perfect, well-rehersed example.

    "QUESTIONER: You wrote that?

AYERS: Yeah, and if you could help me prove it, I’ll split the royalties with you."

If you compare the word usage in "Dreams From my Father" to other works that were written by Bill Ayers, the similarity between the works is just too much to be an accident, a striking occurrence, or a remote coincidence.

Here are but several examples of the many similarity between the two books.

    I wouldn't count on it.

I haven't read either book, but I have read numerous articles that explain how "Dreams..." was most likely not written by the same person who wrote "Audacity of Hope". The former is written much better than the latter.
