The parrots need to be issued a better aspersion. The authoritarians who have seized control of the previously libertarian-leaning GOP need a better pejorative to demonize the opposition than one designating their enemies as being alert and cognizant. Republican presidential hopefuls are vowing to wage a war on "woke," but a new USA TODAY/Ipsos Poll finds a majority of Americans are inclined to see the word as a positive attribute, not a negative one. Fifty-six percent of those surveyed say the term means "to be informed, educated on, and aware of social injustices." That includes not only three-fourths of Democrats but also more than a third of Republicans. Overall, 39% say instead that the word reflects what has become the GOP political definition, "to be overly politically correct and police others' words." That's the view of 56% of Republicans. The findings raise questions about whether Republican campaign promises to ban policies at schools and workplaces they denounce as "woke" could boost a contender in the party's primaries but put them at odds with broader public opinion in the general election. Another poll shows GOP is a shrinking party. Majority Americans left republican ideology long, long time ago. Electoral College vote and Gerrymandering keeping GOP relevant, once one of this fall, GOP will have no relevance in modern American politics. 7/8 of presidential election, majority Americans voted for Democrats. It’s just matter of time before the majority vote will effect Electoral College. We are already seeing the change in some big cities in Red States; Atlanta, Phoenix, Dallas and some of the Purple statues; Milwaukee, Madison, Philadelphia . Madison, Milwaukee and Philadelphia are completely out of reach for GOPs. Yet they are double down on idology which are irrelevant in 21st century.
“Authoritarian” is more descriptive, and when the Democrats line up with big corporations for fun and profit, “fascist” has some validity. But the left have overused the political “f-word” to describe the opposition for many years. It’s lost its meaning. “Progressive” is a pejorative in my opinion because it is anything but that. “Regressive” is more accurate because the progressives want to go back to the political systems practiced by kings, emperors and dictators. It’s all about one party rule, all powerful government and persecution of political dissenters.
Should you "progressives" get your way and end up with one party rule, I can't wait until you wake up one day and the party is doing things you disagree with and now you realize you don't have any alternative because you have cemented one party rule.
Can Regressives Contrive a Better Invective Than "WOKE"? Of course but it is a lot easier to say or write than "progressive actions that harm American culture and security."
