Joe Biden's latest appearance as a turkey on the debate stage, carved up by Kamala Harris, makes one wonder what he's even doing there. To run for President, you have to be a bit of a sociopath, but is he so narcissistic he can't understand he's worthless? The millennial goober Eric Swalwell dropped out, so why is this corpse called Joe Biden lingering around?

He is leading the polls. What does that say about the other 367 candidates.

Give-Away-The-Country Biden has a good a chance of anyone to get the nomination. The dem candidate will just be a sacrificial lamb. Anyone with a brain will not challenge Trump but will wait until 2024 to jump in. Trump all the way.

I don't agree with your hyperbolic depiction of Biden but I will admit that he does seem to be short a tool or two in the toolbox. That said - compared to the tool who is currently running the nation - Biden would not be so bad.

Just having a bit of fun. I worry that Biden is Clinton 2.0, too ingrained in Washington culture and not exciting enough to rally around.

Ol Shotgun Joe? A devout Catholic? Why would the Dems pick an old religious white man? He's a bigot- right?

Yip. Hes pretty much the only candidate (among the leaders) that I would at least consider. I wont give the progressives my vote, zero chance.

Oh **ll no. Didn’t Joe once claim he’d have thrashed Trump behind the schoolhouse in high school? I want to see them in the Octagon. The final debate could be on ESPN and nobody could complain about the MSM moderation.

    Everybody wins.

Unlike you, I don't worry about either the Democratic or the Republican base. I'm looking for a candidate that can attract the independent voter. If Gallup is to be believed, as of 16 June 2016 independents now make up 46% of the electorate. The largest voting group or block.

Trump is president because he won independents. Independents usually decide national elections. A candidate attractive to independents I say would guarantee a Democratic victory in 2020. One that can't attract independents, a repeat of 2016 is very possible. Both major parties bases have been shrinking, in 2006 independents made up 30% of the electorate, since then they have grown to 46%. It takes more than just winning one's base or even energizing them.

There were a lot of independents who gave him the benefit of the doubt, the first time. And a lot of Democrats didn't show up because they thought Hillary had a lock.

I will vote for Pee Wee Herman if I have to - whomever can beat trump.

I've been an Independent for going on 20 years now... Republican before that.

You can certainly forget him. Last time I checked, you aren't forced to watch or listen to him. Or even about him, if you don't want. And based upon all the threads about him here (started by Reps), he isn't going to get the nom. So why are you allowing him to upset you so?

Trump calls them rock ups. You lay on your stomach and push with your arms until your toes touch the ground.

I don't know if independents gave Trump the benefit of the doubt. Not when 57% of them had an unfavorable view of Trump. Trump won them because 70% of independents viewed Hillary Clinton unfavorably. Question 10 and 11.

One telling feature of that dislike of both major party candidates is 12% of independents voted third party. Against both Clinton and Trump. That's roughly 9 million voters. If you look at independents in 2016, 40% of them viewed Trump favorably, 57% unfavorably. Today, 39% of independents view Trump favorably, 52% unfavorably. Question 42A.

That's not much change from November 2016. Perhaps the key is for the Democrats to find a candidate that can attract some or most of those independents who voted third party against both major party candidates back in 2016. The Democrats can't just throw someone out there and expect to win them over. That didn't work in 2016. The ball is in the democrats court, it's up to them to figure out which of their numerous candidates is one independents like better than Trump. It certainly isn't all of them. You can go to question 23A through 23AA to see how independents view all the candidates, favorable/unfavorable and compare them to Trump.

Then take a look at question 31, the generic presidential vote. It might shock you when you look at independents. Choosing the right candidate is very important. Candidates do matter.

Biden appeals to white, working class voters and beats trump by 10 points in key swing states; as well as nationally. As of right now, my bet is on Biden. He is a moderate, highly experienced, with a lifetime of dedicated work. He may not be a great campaigner but I think his character, his calm, steady hand, and his decades of accumulated wisdom, will win the day.

Biden will appeal to many Independents. He isn't the radical left. He is moderate and reasonable.
