Fencing will be reinstalled around the Capitol next week for President Joe Biden's State of the Union address as officials fear a trucker "Freedom Convoy" may make its way to Washington, D.C.

"Freedom Convoy" truckers in Canada have been protesting for weeks against the country's COVID-19 vaccine mandates for truckers and the Ambassador Bridge border crossing between Ontario and Michigan has been blocked by protestors.

Canadian authorities have begun arresting protestors in the country's capital city of Ottawa. Police said nearly 200 demonstrators were arrested as of Sunday morning.

U.S. Capitol Police said they are aware of a trucker convoy arriving in D.C. around the time of the president's State of the Union address on March 1 and will "facilitate lawful First Amendment activity."…

It seems that our regime truly does fear we the people. They are afraid of who is coming to visit our nation’s capital in those trucks. Fencing off the peoples house from the people? Really?

Let’s stand tall for our working and middle class through these truckers and who ever accompanies them. I hope that horns can be lightly heard during Bidens speech

i absolutely support america's working class, people trying to earn a living without maskless unvaccinated *******s making their lives even more miserable.

we have seen what these "protesters" consuder to be "legitimate political discourse" and i absolutely support any measures necessary to protect our police and public property from their "lawful first amendment activity.

They don’t fear we the people, we voted them in after all, by overwhelming numbers unlike the last administration — they do want to make our police and military lives safer and easier however.

Hopefully this time they will not be held back if an riot breaks out that threatens the peace of property.

I must have missed where you were upset the last time it was put up and remained up for quite a while. Care to post it?

Most of the people in Canada and here are vaccinated. It is the emergency decree and all China virus mandates we are trying to eliminate. The first responders and others like the truckers who got us through the pandemic before there was such a thing as a vaccine are still heroes and now it’s time we honor them instead of firing them or attacking them in blue places. Our first amendment protections are much stronger than those in Canada and it will be that much more difficult for a congress or a President to do what Trudeau did. Those who represent us in DC will use their free association rights to peaceably assemble in DC from the White House to the Capitol to the Mall to use our free speech rights in order to petition the government for a redress of grievances. Police there other than the ones controlled by Pelosi will not turn on us. Unlike the BLM and Antifa gangs in 2020, this group will revere and protect those monuments so that will never be an issue either.

the emergency decree, and mandates enforcing emergency measures are necessary and well within the lawful purview of government.

any precedents set contrary to said public health measures might well prove disastrous in the future.

Reminds me of the fence former President Trump put around the White House.

It is time for all emergency powers and mandates due to covid to end. The protesters should protest around the country and remain in DC in peaceful protest until that happens however long it takes.

Because we have the right to demand it. In much of the country it’s already been done. No Governor emergency powers, no special state laws, no mask mandates, no lockdowns, no vaccine mandates or passports. Biden has no excuse to extend the federal emergency beyond March 1 as he is doing. We the people are going to use our constitutional rights to do this protest whether the partisans of the President like it or not.

Uhhhm. There's been a fence around the White House for like 150 years. Bad idea to try to get over it.

They should keep their demands simple. End the federal vax mandates. And maybe the most important demand to end this crap: END IMMUNITY FROM LIABILITY if someone mandates a vaccine and it injures.

One thinks, given your comment, that you had a sudden flashback to BLM/ANTIFA riots.... Guarantee that's not these folks.

The relatively small number of deaths follows the use of an experimental vaccine, which may have saved hundreds, or even thousands of lives.
these are the same folks who caused the problems at many blm protests.

What federal covid mandates are still in effect? The one for Medicare payees and federal contract holders are the only ones I can think of.

President Biden's ADMINISTRATION is not afraid of peaceful visitors, but isn't as foolhardy as Benedict Donald's REGIME. Protecting the OUR Capitol (not Canadian truckers) from violent demonstrators is and should be a priority. Trumpublican's have been critical that better preparation for tRump's insurrection wasn't put in place before the January 6th attack, now talking out of both sides of your mouth you're being critical of such preparation.
