Can anyone please tell me how farmers are suppose to store carbon on their land? so they can earn carbon credits?

The land itself including trees and grass store CO2 right so is this the storage we are talking about, then farmers with lots of acres should get plenty of carbon credits just for having a big block of land?

And what can a farmer do to reduce greenhouse gas emissions on his land?

Chop down all the trees get rid of all the grass, plug the cows bums?

Can someone explain it to me please.

I think they have to hold their breath for three minutes every morning.
