Trump's very trumpian lawyer, who loves the TV camera, Alina Habba is clearly in over her head, and she knows it.

Habba told the judge, "I don’t know how to try this case, Your Honor," to which Kaplan quipped back, "I have heard you. I have considered what you have to say, and I have ruled."

The judge admonished her for simple things like not following correct procedures on introducing evidence. It was amazing how poor her skill level was as a litigation lawyer -- it was as if she were right out of law school, not knowing basic court procedures. She started to ask Carroll about the content of a document not yet entered to evidence, and judge Kaplan slammed her for that. Ouch!

She is clearly in over her head, and should never have accepted the challenge of representing a former US President. She must have lusted for the fame it would bring, and now the crows are coming home to roost, not only for Trump for hiring her, but to Habba as the world sees her incompetence displayed on the world stage (at least for those curious enough to read about it, there are no cameras in the court room, but a number of tweets are documenting the dialogue, look for it on Twitter/X).

But, one wonders how Trump is so incompetent he hires lawyers like Habba?
I think I know the answer. All the good lawyers want nothing to do with him and no doubt Habba comes cheap. If not, Trump is incompetent. But, it's safe to say Trump is incompetent, all the way around the clock because when it comes to clocks, his clock is going to soon be thoroughly cleaned by Carroll and Leticia James.

But consider the sophomoric immaturity of Trump himself. He couldn't behave and judge Kaplan threatened that he would kick him out of the court room. Of course, Trump responded that he would love it if Judge Kaplan did that.

Trump is his own worst enemy and I can sense that this jury is going to stick it to him, 'bigly'.

Pass the popcorn, the trial is underway.

The judge repeatedly halted Habba for failing to follow the proper procedure of introducing a deposition, and she ultimately moved on.

"I'll represent to you that there is a communications — " Habba began, before the judge interrupted her again to point out that a lawyer's job, in questioning a witness, is to ask questions, not state supposed facts.

This is but a few of the many instances the Judge reprimanded her for her not knowing basic trial court protocol. Rules of evidence, how to question a witness, how to enter evidence into court, and on and on and on that a newbie attorney would learn coming out of law school and being hired by his first law firm. Why Trump allows her to represent her in court, is a mystery. Well, 3 attorneys recently quit, so maybe she is all he can get.

But what does that tell us about Trump? You on the right need to swallow the bitter pill of truth that any former president who can't find competent attorneys to represent him is himself, incompetent, and definitely not someone we want in charge of the nuke football, just because you got lucky with 3 supreme court judges, which any republican president would have given you, anyway.

So, in case you are wondering, THAT is the salient point of this thread.
