Probably in rural areas, or small town, and you don't need a gun in rural NY either, or any other State outside bigger cities. I live in a metro area in Florida and crime is high (one of the highest crime rates in US for this size place), and lot of people own guns (all my neighbors do), but bodies pile up nonetheless. WalletHub ranks this place as the least safe city in US based on 1) Home & Community Safety, 2) Natural-Disaster Risk, and 3) Financial Safety.

As for 'trigger pull', I think Double Action-Single Action works best.

I'm an unrepentant wheel gunner. My ccw was a .38 Detective Special forever, until the recent Mostly Peaceful Rioting™ persuaded me to transition to a 12+1 9mm, with another 15 rounds in my pocket. The .38 was retired to permanent bedside duty (or so I thought), until I stumbled across a great deal on a .357 Ruger GP100. Too bulky for ccw, but a very nice bedside cannon. And mucho fun to shoot. To quote a friend of mine: a revolver is like a fork. Pick it up and it works.

My first 40S&W was a Beretta 96D, the big brother of the military 9mm. Its a cop gun and the it takes three men and a dog to pull the trigger. A cop that practices with it can handle it, but its difficult to just pick it up and handle it well... made that way in case a bad guy gets ahold of it. I had the springs adjusted to make it easier. I have a compact Ruger in 40S&W that is much easier to handle and a good concealed carry gun.

How does she carry it? I ask because most women I know seem to purse carry, a practice I am appalled by. If their purse is snatched, now the attacker has their gun. Understandably women's clothing presents fewer options for concealed carry than what men wear.

It depends. She'll do IWB, most times. She has a cross body pouch she carries it in sometimes.

In NYC both Donald Trump and Howard Stern had concealed carry permits. So perhaps political contributions as well as an act of God. Certainly no permits for the little people.

I'd never carry a 380. It has the range of a spitball. I'm an old artilleryman and prefer engaging the bad guy before he can reach me.

Years ago I thought about getting Sig P226 firing .357 SIG round. Very powerful round, and never jams due to the bottlenose design, but very expensive hence no-go.

According to the FBI, the vast majority of citizen involved self defense shootings occur within 7 yards. A 380 should be adequate in most of those circumstances. There are a lot of women for whom the recoil generated by bigger calibers won't fly. My wife enjoys shooting my GP100 as long as she's shooting .38 specials and/or +P. She won't touch it when it's loaded with .357.

That's why I got a P10C over a glock. Out of the box it's far better, and I don't really want to do modifications because we know how that goes in court cases.

The new Shields also have redesigned triggers that are pretty nice.

The Army trained me nail bad guys 50-60 kilometers away. There's no way in the world they get closer than the maximum effective range of an M16 (440 meters).

Apples & oranges. Military combat vs. civilian DGU. This thread is about civilian carry guns; I don't know many civilians packing M16s.

A LOT carry AR-15's... same range. Its best if your bullet launcher fires further than HIS bullet launcher.
    What is DGU?

Defensive Gun Usage. For most civvies, that translates to ccw. I love shooting my Ruger AR platform, but can't tuck it into my waistband for ccw.

I never carry. Violent crime is just about nonexistent here. Its funny, here where you don't worry about violent crime, any legal gun owner can carry concealed or open with no permit, no registration and no restrictions on magazine capacity, etc. But in blue city ghettos where you take your life in your hands just walking down the sidewalk, you often need an act of God for Big Brother's permission to carry.

the lady FBI agents I worked with had several methods of carrying
two had special purses that in crowded areas they could hold the gun unobtrusively and if someone snatched it, the lady had the gun.
another use to carry a small glock in a bra style holster as her backup. In pants suits she had a standard holster concealed by the jacket She also did the same thing with a skirted suit.
one lady favored shorter dresses. waist band holsters were not practical. She had a thigh holster. yet another, who always wore a jacket had a shoulder holster

Gals often think I'm carrying a concealed double barreled shotgun. I have trouble convincing them I'm not.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but sigs will FTE or FTF as fast if not faster than anything. I had a squib in my .40 sig, it barely kept the weapon out of battery. Mere millimeters away from closing the slide with the squib just past the tip of the chambered round.

was very fortunate that day. Replaced that terd with a proper G19.
